Zenith montre d'aeronef anyone?

I have yet to personally own a Zenith, but something about this model has always caught my eye, and it seems that it could be a fun casual watch to wear. Has anyone had any experiences with this watch that they could share regarding value, quality and overal thoughts (perhaps in comparison to something like Rolex)?

Do not have one. Is it particularly big, as I recall?

Nice looking, but instead of the big one I'd go for the IWC Big Pilot.

No experience with that particular Zenith, but I have owned an El Primero based chrono. Zenith is kinda of a sleeper brand with good value for money. The Montre d'Aeronef Type 20 runs on the Elite calibre in-house movement - the other work horse for Zenith aside from the El Primero.

The watches are good quality pieces that can usually be had a for good bargain pre-owned. If you buy and keep you can still get a discount from grey dealers. But if you're not sure and may flip, go pre-owned.

the first one is huge!

the type 20 is more manageable. i prefer the type 20 it's more manageable.

i was tempted but never pulled the trigger on it. though it is a classic i think the el primero is a better choice.

i would compre the aeronef to speedmaster, iwc pilots, pam base and other casual watches

always fancied a mango diver , zenith in my eyes represents outstanding value for money , and if you buy pre owned you couldnt go wrong.
after all , rolex used to use their movements .... pretty good vote for the quality.

The Extra Special Type 20 (yes, the only model without an inhouse movement) with the 45mm case seems to be great value for the money (for obvious reasons) and very much wearable. Could be a fun weekend casual wearer.

I own a Type 20 Extra Special, and am very happy with it. I have a small, thin, wrist, but even then, the 45mm diameter still does not appear overly huge. Sensational watch.

I had one, liked it but it was just too big and the lugs aren't easy to do strap changes with - that's a big killer for me. Would rather have a Panerai any day of the week - not to mention, whatever you do don't buy new.

Thanks for sharing, but I was referring to the 45mm not 48 Gmt... Purely due to size. Basically resulting in an easier wearer.

In that case, the 45mm's movement is a no-go for me. No reason to buy a Zenith really other than their great movements. My $0.02.
