new guy from miami
hello all my names Jose. I'm 25 and live in miami. I just completed my first full year of work after graduating college (dec03) I did very well in 2005 and I hope to break 6figures in 2006. I am a very impulsive person and I like the finer things in life. I just recently grew into a rolex frenzy. And now its all I think about. I really want me a nice SS oyster datejust. preferably a silver dial or a nice mother of pearl dial or something else nice like that. Im also looking for diamond or roman numerals for hour markers. so nice....anyways im in a bind because I really want to invest into the real estate market...I want to buy at least two places this year. one to live in and one to rent out, 5-8grand right now on the watch takes out a pretty big chunk of savings for a down payment...any thoughts?
Also I went to mayors here in miami, the expert on rolex at mayors (besides wearing a very nice white gold daytona) was telling me to wait for the new bands for the datejust. the links are going to be solid and right around the bezel is going to have a bit thicker look. |

The sports range continues to have hollow centre links, exception being the Daytona and the SS/Pt. YM. All solid Jubilee on the new TOG and DJ... And all solid Oyster bracelet... JJ

Jose, welcome to TRF!! Can't go wrong with the choices you laid out. If you want to venture a bit, look at the SS/PLT YM. It is the best they make IMHO. It is also the last of Rolex in my watch family.

Let me add my welcome to TRF, Jose.
You've got some tough choices there. I don't mean to dissuade you from buying your first Rolex, but consider this. If you did well last year, and are considering a real estate investment, I would do that first. You know real estate values will go up (especially in South Florida). Rolex will not increase in value nearly to the extent of land. My advice would be, go with the real estate now and next year you can get the Rolex. By that time, you may have more bracelet choices and you may find a design and style you fall in love with. That's just my $0.02.

Have them both
I am a real estate broker in georgia and have a solution/compromise. With homes in your area appreciating the way they do, you can get 100% financing on both your primary residence and your investment property. There are alot of programs out to help you out. Join the local investors group and they'll guide you in the right direction. These programs are score driven, (usually in the 700') but if you qualify you can have your investments and your rollie at the same time. If you can't qualify get the real estate and in a few years you can get 3 rollie's. LOL

thanks alot altrolex...think you can send me an email infoe@aol.com, on how I could join some of the local investor groups. It just seems everyone in south florida is doing real estate one way or another.
I have decided to wait to buy my watches till I buy my properties. I just think it makes more sense in the long run. The faster I have more money, the more watches I can acquire :) P.S. Thanks for the warm welcomes. |
