Daytona ss to yg pm

Having one daytona would you keep the ss panda or trade it up to a yg and add some $?

Is it more.iconic to have a ss or a pm ?

Not a value standpoint but rather as a collector's point of view

SS Daytonas wear so small on me that PM is the only way for me, I really like them with a Ceramic bezel so the YG Champagne OF or Ghost would be my choices.

This was true on 1165 models but now on the 1265 they all share the same case across different metals so they wear the same

No they are all too small at 38.5 but in PM they weigh and feel more substantial and that makes up for the diameter.

38.5 measurement at the bezel means nothing when the watch is overall wider due to it’s larger lugs

Maybe lugs are a touch larger but its not like the maxi/super case which really transforms the size, its still small for "40mm".

Neil, the new SS are larger at a smidge under 40mm, the same as (now) all the PMs.

Not with the new 126 Daytonas. They wear larger and are now the same size as the PM models

Worthy of consideration. The YG PN on bracelet is an amazing piece. Are you comfortable wearing it as a daily?

Traded my white 116500 and a pepsi ceramic with both bracelets... plus some cash... for a YG 116508 "pikachu." I wish I could reverse it. It's been about 7 months now. After two months, I realized it was a mistake, but I'm faced with a market where I'm losing about $10k worth of equivalent value that I put in to acquire it.

Don't get me wrong--it's an awesome watch. I have enjoyed wearing it, and as a first PM piece, the 116508 has been an excellent introduction to the weight, luster, and all that gold has to offer.

If I had other watches in my collection that were of equal caliber, I'd probably feel differently. But to lose two of the most versatile pieces, it just wasn't worth it.

The stainless Daytona is way more wearable if you're OCD about scratches, not to mention the security factor where it's far more under the radar. I wore my panda with little fear anywhere. On a rubber strap walking around New Orleans. Hiking and snorkeling in Maui. With a suit to meet clients. It just worked everywhere.

I'd keep the stainless if I were you, as a regrettable former owner and hopeful future owner again at some point.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it. Do you still like wearing your Pikachu or is the honeymoon over?

I only ask as I am on the list for one and will sell my 116520 to make way for it. Hearing you talk makes me feel I would regret it or that the 126508 is overhyped. I know it's not a panda but SS Daytona classic all the same.

The only other thing I was considering would be an all gold Daytona, do you wish you would have done that? Thanks for your thoughts.

I still really like to wear it, but long-term I wish I had my stainless watches more. It was the only way I could afford to get a gold watch like I wanted for a long time, if ever, so I did the trade deal.

It's worth mentioning that at the time that I did this, stainless watches were on the downward trend still, so I thought I would cash in while the "getting was still good." I thought that the pikachu wouldn't go down by too much more, and honestly, it's still around the max expected "loss" for me. In real dollars spent, I'm still slightly ahead vs the retail on the watch, which it's still above.

I personally would rather have my pikachu than an 116520, though. If you could trade your 116520 for a 116500 or 126500, I'd do that.

Thanks man. Tbh I'm not fussed about getting the 116500 as I have a pepsiC and that I feel is just an iconic SS piece for me. Hence I feel I can let the 116520 go for the Pikachu.

My SS Ceramic Daytona is a must-have in my collection! I would add to it but never be without it, and I prefer it to most PM Daytonas.

I’d rather have a full PM Daytona than a SS Daytona amongst a collection that has other steel watches. As a one watch collection only, I’d rather have the SS.

Given you already have the YG DD40, and PM is taken care of I’d stick with the iconic SS Daytona.
