Submariner winding stem problem

I have a 5513 Sub that I purchased pre-owned from an AD in mid 2013. The watch came with full service from RSC London and the service was carried out in late 2012. I wore the watch on and off, rotating it with some others. Last night as I unscrewed the crown to wind it up, having not worn it for a while, the entire crown and stem came right out of the case. First time it has ever happened me with a Rolex though I see from this forum that other guys have reported this, particularly with the older movements. Anyway I called in with the AD I got it from to be told that it will have to go back to RSC for them to take a look at it. This ASD will not open up Subs apparently. Also AD also told me that Rolex might insist on a full service rather than simply fixing the stem, but they would inspect it and let me know if that was required. Apparently I can decline same though if I did, I would be getting it back in the same state. The stem does not appear to be broken and if so, I have read from this forum that this is usually a relatively straightforward fix, i.e. a single screw. If so, a full service by Rolex seems a bit over the top, given that it was serviced in 2012. Anyone got any thoughts or advice on this one? Thanks
