Rolex comex

Why do you say it’s a mess? Fairly sweeping statement….

Dial & hands are replacements and the case is polished to death. Few people look at this thread, start a new thread in the Vintage section and you’ll get your answers but be prepared.

Yeh I had one similar, case was polished to death! Still adored it but took a trade 2-3 years ago.

It has had so many parts replaced that collector appeal is severely compromised. Dial, hands, insert, bracelet clasp all appear to be recent. At heart there appears to be a correct 5513 Cx case (HEV?), but most with an interest in vintage pieces would hesitate to drop £20k for Trigger's broom.

http://foolsandhorses.weebly.com/triggers-broom.html

FWIW, the original dial probably did not bear a Comex logo.

Few weeks ago I had a conversation with the guy who runs a local car boot got talking about watches and Rolex watches.

Said oh I’ve got a Rolex I used to work for a diving company in the 80’s it’s got the name on the dial

Asked if was COMEX oh yes he replied then proceeded to tell me his dive story’s

Doesn’t wear the watch just sits in a box at his home

Interesting. The early Rolex comex didn’t have comex on the dial. They are stunning watches and the story behind many of them adds a nice history.

Have just read Mr Milton's earlier post of the recollections of the former Navy CD,really fascinating and hugely informative on all sorts of subjects, these were special individuals and one should be proud to wear the same brand of timepiece as a lasting memory to their achievements.

Apologies in advance if this isn’t the right thread.

I was walking through central London today and spotted these stunning COMEX pieces.

The matte dial example is beautiful, very crisp, and both had insanely cool ghost bezels.

Unfortunately I didn’t have the £250k to hand in order to upgrade from my 126610!

I’m no expert but a Comex 1665 is pretty rare.

Some really good knowledge here. Is there an online marketplace that you would recommend to sell a comex? I have sold far less expensive watches here along with a couple of other popular forums, but don't typically see watches as rare as comex divers. A friend has asked for my assistance in finding a buyer for his 5514.
