Ask for a Daytona and see her response, that’ll be more entertaining ..

Agreed - that's a lot of watches in 7 months!

OP..did you buy the 5 watches because you wanted them or because you wanted the Submariner?

I asked my AD to let me have a YG Daytona Lemans if they get one....he said those types of off-catalog pieces are reserved for the likes of DRAKE. The conversation abruptly stopped.

5 watches in 7 months? Holy moly. Do it again at a new authorized dealer. If they also don't appreciate it, then try yet again with another 5 watches. Eventually it'll work.

I'm sure that Mr. Drake's got nothing on you!

I don't understand this thread.

How many watches do you need?

Asking for a friend.

Sounds like an SA who doesn't appreciate your business. I would start going somewhere else

Roll your eyes, sigh or do anything else, as long as I get the watch I want.

Eye rolling is rude and very passive aggressive, I've dealt with sales staff who put me off buying a £10 item so for a Rolex they can fck right off.

What do you expect? Rolex makes 100 or so if those. I have a great relationship with my AD and I wouldn’t ask for that watch even though I love it. Your AD is being honest with you. Would you prefer they lie to you?

For every Rolex watch an AD gets in there are likely hundreds (more for highly desirable pieces) wanting the chance to purchase it. They can't just keep selling all of the watches to one individual, they have to spread the joy around. My AD was honest and open when they told me this, which I appreciated. I now understand this, and don't get my hopes up that I'll get more than one or two a year.

PS - this, however, doesn't explain the eye roll. Your SA could have instead just explained this to you.

If you had just purchased the sub from a secondary dealer you probably could have saved whatever you spend on those 5 purchases plus the eye-roll.

That seems weird....a Sub doesn't seem like a big ask these days. Even an LV with that kind of purchase history doesn't seem like a stretch at all.

Are you sure she wasn't rolling her eyes at you buying another watch in general, haha

He named 2 models but was silent on the other 3 purchases.

If the 3 were watches of lesser value, then non-starter.

If the 3 were higher margin jewelry of 5 digit value each, a bigger incentive.

An eye roll from an SA means the 4th wall has been broken - reality-time - you are no longer in the fantasy of the SA trying hard for you.

Now it's time to cozy up to the sales mgr. or general mgr. or owner.

Maybe SA's are more friendly in Texas!
