GMT2 Bi Metal Rootbeer

Got the call to purchase the watch new at list price. Really wanted a Pepsi GMT2 or Daytona.(i’m on the interest list ). Do you think I should wait or go ahead with purchasing.
I do like the watch and have been waiting five years to buy but its my third choice.

I think the question is : would your answer have been differently 24months ago because of the hype?

TBH I’ve had two previous Rolex watches so the hype isn’t the issue. It’s £13,600 to purchase..

CHNR > BLRO, I don't think you'll regret it

And the Daytona is a totally different watch. You can "wish" for it but may be waiting a very long time. A lifetime.

I would go ahead Steve as the Rootbeer is a fabulous watch & you're never going to get a Pepsi or Daytona ahead of a Rootbeer.

I was in the same boat in 2021. My choices were Pepsi, Batman, Rootbeer. I was offered the RB and never regretted buying it. Gorgeous piece. Year and half later I got my Pepsi. Go for it!!

Lovely watch. Your chances of a Daytona or Pepsi may be extremely slim, turning the root beer down could leave you with nothing.

I got the call for a CHNR last Friday. I love it. I’ve already gotten a bunch of compliments on it. At the very least, you should go see it because pictures do not do it justice.

I tried on the CHNR a few weeks ago and was quite pleasantly surprised by it. I am not to the point where I want it more than the Pepsi, but I want the Pepsi for more personal reasons - specifically the Magnum PI tie-in.

But that CHNR was absolutely stunning - much more than I had imagined it would.

I think the CHNR is amazing. If you think you will get the BLRO call any day now, then maybe hold off, but otherwise, having your third favorite Rolex in you watch roll seems pretty awesome.

Was wearing mine yesterday. It is a special watch. The RG/SS is a great combo. I love that it is not in your face but is more elegant. I have the BLNR, BLRO and the CHNR. All three are great but would rate them in this order. BLNR then CHNR then BLRO. I know most would say the BLRO and I love mine but I have more appeal to the other two.

Waiting 5 yrs?? Time vs money I guess. Simple for me….I’d buy it it if I liked it and would get joy from wearing it.
Me personally….I know how much $$ I would’ve spent on other things in 5 yrs that I could’ve just gone grey and bought the new watch I wanted 5 yrs ago, and enjoyed it all this time.
This…. vs waiting that I HOPEFULLY get a call. Sorry, but no way am I playing that game with the AD’s. Buy once, cry once now….as they say.
If an AD tells me I MAY or MAY NOT get a watch in the next yr or five….sorry, but I’m moving in another direction , going grey, etc….

How did you get the call for a rootbeer in the first place? Did you express interest for that reference or did they just call you out of the blue?

I would never buy anything that's not my first choice, no matter how desirable it is. Also, this is not a 2020 anymore. You will never get your money back with that reference if you decide to unload it later when you find out you don't like it.

Buy it. A third-choice is great, and doesn't exclude second or first down the road.

And if you don't bond with the CHNR, it won't be too painful to get out of.
