Empty Displays

Just posing a question. Is it really better to have empty cases everywhere than say model/ display watches with no movement in them?

Went into an AD today and they had display models. Non working dummy movements. It was really nice to be able to try on the watches and it also made the shop look much better actually having cases full with watches.

Oh no
Not this.

People will make lists to buy the no movement watches too. Oh please no.

Then there will be shortage and gray market of no movement watches.

I am deadly serious. For many the no movement watches will do the job they want. Rolex on the wrist to make a statement of success and hype. Nobody cares about the time. They just look at the...looks.

Extra bonus. Twice a day they will show the correct time.

I'm not sure if you are joking, but not to sell. Just to see/ feel them.

With some luxury items, it has become normal to see it at a dealer and order what you want. Certain automobiles, luxury home theater, furniture.... So I'd vote display items to get a feel for the product.

Empty is great .It means there is high demand for the product .
It means that even at grey prices its great value, because it retains value .
Whats important ,what you pay or what its worth ?
Meanwhile you get a watch that will serve you for a lifetime .

It’s all the biggest bunch of BS I’ve ever seen….meanwhile the real watches are sitting back in the safe………waiting for the next idiot to bundle 50k in garbage jewelry and diamonds

I’d rather see display models in the cases than nothing at all

I like the idea of display models. How many times have you seen a watch in pics and then you finally see it in person and think wow the pics do not do it justice. Also can get a good idea of if the piece fits the wrist. (36mm too small? Is 41 too big etc)

Sad part is then not being able to say I’ll take it and then being told you have to wait or join a list.

Much rather see display models ... the current situation is ridiculous.

While they're at it, go full tilt and get some OPs, SS DJs to put in the windows. Even if it's at the expense of longer waits on professional range .. just get them made. Rolex is not Patek ... its on every high street and should have something in the windows. Something.

I am joking my friend. I wouldn't like to see display watches that actually will hide the fact of this ridiculous situation with no watches to sell to normal Joe. What's the point? If I want to try a watch I still can in a gray dealer. Regards

Do you like test a car without engine?
Go for a test drive : Sorry sir, display only

It’s a joke for customers however you look, when all greys have almost everything in display with movements on ….

If only I could find an AD who had display only watches
Sure beats them tucked away in the safe
