I wouldn't consider the trade.

Wait until the initial surge of 42 FF's settles.. If they are offering 16% off for a recently introduced "hot" watch, imagine what's going to happen when the supply increases and the demand cools a bit.

Then there will like new, barely worn examples on the pre owned market for more like 40% off.

LV is special and probably more accurate. I love the aesthetics of the FF by the way. The FF and the SeaQ both offer more refinement than the Sub, but I have a feeling you would regret moving on. "Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life".

Sums it up well. I would never do that trade.

forget about a blancpain (great watch, no doubt). add a breguet marine 5817 big date to your collection. you can find these in white and rose gold for $12-$14k!

I tried on the new 42mm Blancpain 50 Fathoms the other day (titanium case on a rubber tropic strap) and really liked it.

The Blancpain AD offered me a 16% discount to buy the watch. This offer got me thinking about selling my 16610LV and using the funds to put towards purchasing the BP.

What are peoples thoughts on my idea?

Any responses would be most welcomed.

Thanks,
Darren.

I would go forward with this trade, if it were me, because: (a) the Sub is very recognizable and makes you a target; (b) the Fifty Fathoms isn't recognizable; and (c) the Fifty is true high horology while the Rolex, while still outstanding, is not.

Background: I sold my 50th Anniversary Sub 4 years ago and don't regret it. I currently own a 2013 Fifth Fathoms.

Not a day goes by I don't regret selling my LV. Even though I've bought the latest version. You'll regret it, trust me.

I like the Seamaster more than the Fifty Fathoms. So if I wanted an alternative diver, I’d go with an Omega.
