Prescription to restore Ed's sanity !!

Hi guys,

After seeing that abomination of an image of the PO and so much ORANGE, Ed must be completely out of his mind. So here's a prescription to hopefully restore most of that sanity!!! Droooool away, guys, this one's a true beauty in ROSE GOLD!!!

JJ, I'm touched by your concern and consideration (sniffling in humility). And you are right. Those pics are so comforting and so beautiful. What can I say.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

You are a true friend.

I have now made the first one my new wallpaper.

Anyone have a pic of this rose DD with a black dial? That would float my boat - save me from insanity, etc.

Yes JJ, stunning. I'd prefer this on a croc strap though. I've made it one of the backgrounds for my desktop:

That watch is the BIG DADDY of rolex. It's also nice to see a post by JJ that doesn't involve that crosswind!

If I'm planning on buying a dateless watch, then I'd rather go in for the larger 40 mm Sub-ND which has the same 3130 movement as the Explorer. Love the Exp, but its 36 mm is NOT for me.

I had the same model Day-Date briefly...

but with a rose dial. My wife didn't like it on me. She thought the rose gold with the rose dial was a bit too pink and didn't suit me. To avoid household strife, I sold it and bought the YG Day-Date, President, with white dial and Romans. She loves that watch, as do I. Nonetheless, had I originally bought the Rose Gold Day-Date with the white dial instead of the rose dial, I might still have that watch today. I considered changing dials, though that is not so easily done in Tokyo, but she was adamant against pink gold on me. Strange, huh? I had assumed she would like pink/rose gold better than YG since it is softer. I still think that's a beautiful watch; and that's why I chose it in the first place. But I am also very happy with my YG Day-Date. In fact, I have discovered that although I really like the oyster bracelet, the President is still my favorite for the Day-Date.

Interesting, Otto. I've got a RG JLC Master Geographic. I specifically bought it because of the Rose Gold. It's a nice soft looking gold. My wife likes it on me. But then the JLC comes on a black croc strap so there's not as much gold as on the DD. Maybe that's why my wife didn't balk at it on me.

I sympathize with you, Ralph. I know the feeling all too well. Fortunately, the Crosswind doesn't affect me that way.

Otto/Ed,

I think it's the amount of rose gold in a DD that is the issue. I personally love rose gold (not that I have a watch with it, but I will at some point) but on a DD it's almost too much of a good thing........seems overpowering where I see rose gold as something meant to be more subtle.

Interesting also that it is hugely popular at the moment. My goldsmith friend has told me that he gets requests for rose gold much more now than he has in the last 20 years.....

BTW Ed, JLC's rose gold is one of the nicest out there IMO.......

I'm prolly in a minority here, but RG is kinda feminine to me. But I'm not a fan of YG on a man's watch to start, TT or full on...

Give me white metals, SS, WG or platinum any day or YG or RG.

Okay, so we all know you are white metal floosie.......

In my view rose gold is from an older era, and to me evokes thoughts of art deco and that type of design (like a rose gold Reverso). Not really a women's thing, but more of a men's classic........
