Post approvals??

I started a thread inquiring about the Explorer I/II in regards to aftermarket straps... the reason being that I am in the market for straps to complement my timepiece, and wanted to see what other members had done.

Easy enough.

My question/issue is with responding to my own thread. Apparently, one must have their postings reviewed and approved by a site admin before it will be made visible on a thread. That is all well and good for the most part, but where I draw issue is when it takes an excessively long time for this process to take place. I have tried replying to my thread thanking the contributors, and updating on some of the straps I have decided to go with.... however I am going on somewhere around 36 hours waiting on someone to send it through.

I am a new member here, and a new member to the watch community in general. However, I am a veteran of a considerable amount of time on various unrelated message boards. If this practice cannot be done with adequate communication or in a reasonably timely manner, it should not be done at all. It is greatly disruptive to participation in the course of conversation, and frustrating when trying to learn and exchange thoughts and ideas. What gives?

Thank you for the mini-vent.

Not sure what you are referring to, but the thread in question seems fine. The forum has an automoderating function that is designed to catch certain key words from new members (anyone with fewer than three posts). These get caught and then have to be approved.

The purpose is to minimize the amount of spam that gets through. Believe me, the membership here sees only a minute amount of the spam that comes in here. 95% of it gets blocked by the automoderator. Unforutunately, sometimes non-spam gets picked up because the poster has used certain words.

We do our best to clear these as soon as we can, but there are only a few mods and a lot of posts.

Make another few posts and you won't have a problem.

It's a conspiracy I tell you. No way that the 95% of my comments that NEVER get posted are spam. Being a true redneck, I am a SlimJim kind of fellow.

A perfect example of spam, slimjim1957. A post that has no redeeming social value. One that takes up space unnecessarily and is a waste of screen space. I rest my case.
