Bye red second hand! Newman Dial

Not a huge change, especially compared to the retirement of the green Daytona and meteorite dials, etc. but still Technically a discontinued reference and brought back with, what I feel is a big change to the dial. The red seconds hand always made this dial For me.

(Also apologies if this has been covered already)

I agree, it’s the first thing I said, seeing the dial in person… “I love the red second hand!”

glad I got the red hand version a couple weeks ago.
As I said in another thread, while still very pretty I feel like it lost a lot of character without the red hand.

As for the sub dials hands , I actually hate the new ones, they basically made them invisible :D

Totally agree! I admit, the red second hand is the biggest aesthetic change, which for me is the most important since I don’t even use the chronograph lol. But to make those hands the same color as the subdials is completely asinine.

I couldn’t figure out why the new sub dials looked so bland on my phone.

Totally agree. Bad for legibility. I'm not so bothered about no red chronograph hand but gold sub hands on gold sub dials. Why.

Sometimes new releases get everyone excited and many times it takes a while (if ever) for the new releases to grow on us.

But I can't imagine ever liking the new PN model more than the old. The red seconds hand was a little like the pop of red in the exotic dial of the '60s, and was different in a good way from the other Daytonas. And having the subdials with a contrasting hand just makes sense. Oh well.

Feels like a huge change. They ruined it imo. It went from fun+interesting to vanilla.

Daytona has a busy dial. Removing a red hand and black hands on subdials made it even worse

Noticed this so definitely keeping mine with the red seconds hand.

Also noticed on the 116508ln OF with champagne dial and black sub registers they removed the black around the indicies. That’s one of my favorite things about my watch. Pretty underwhelmed with the new Daytonas…

The new one is ugly. Does anyone know if ADs will still receive previous models?

That’s a let down. One of the variants of the Daytona I liked. Definitely a downgrade, much cooler as they had before.

I'm bummed out about this. I am going to have to put my interest towards another Daytona.
