Like monopusher chronographs?
Just got this one back from a service.
A 20 year old Roger Dubuis Much More 32 When a white gold single button chronograph with a marvelous movement ( from a top brand ) has a market value similar to a mass produced steel Rolex Pepsi with a simple and barely finished movement ... well than you know something is wrong today not my best movement shot but that's all I have right now And as a side note ... Early 2000 this had a 42K Listprice ... I think a Rolex pepsi ( non ceramic of course) was about 4K back then.

Out of curiosity what was the cost of service on one of those? I agree the level of finishing is absolute bargain for what they can be had.

Gorgeous, I have been researching the Much More series for a few months, just waiting for the right example to come up - and this one is a peach

The movement (RD28?) looks very similar to the Lemania 2310, or is it the same movement? The finishing is nice in my eyes.

The movement is based on a Lemania movement as far as I know. RD produced them in house.

I think that’s correct for the hommage chronograph monopusher, but I think this one is 100% in-house But I could be wrong

I believe they bought the right to produce that movement in house and did so in different sizes and configurations. But, I think maybe an actual watchmaker can comment on it. I have only seen pictures of the movements. |

I didn't manage to find much info on the RD28 but here is an article from Wei Koh on the history of Lemania movement where there are some insights to Roger Dubuis' rights to produce the movement in-house: "He (Roger Dubuis) created his Lemania 2320-based* chronograph in three sizes — 34mm, 37mm and 40mm** — demonstrating the remarkable design adaptability of the movement. His Lemania movements received the Geneva Seal and were certified as chronometers by the observatory at Besançon. They are designated RD56 for the regular two-pusher version and RD65 for the monopusher version. I believe that Roger Dubuis was the only modern watchmaker and brand to make a monopusher version of the Lemania 2320. Dubuis used the movement in other models, including his baroque Sympathie case which was combined with the double-retrograde perpetual calendar, and notably, the Easy Diver Chronograph, making it the only dive watch to receive the Geneva Seal. OK, here’s the important thing about the 2320 movement found in the Roger Dubuis watches. Dubuis managed to secure the rights to produce the movement in-house. In 2008, when Richemont Group bought Roger Dubuis, it obtained the rights to produce this movement." * The Lemania 2320 is closely related to the venerable 2310 but included a swan neck regulator, 4 extra jewels (21 total), and other refinements. ** There is a gorgeous pic of a Roger Dubuis Hommage Chronograph H40 in the link. Enter at own risk. |
