Where do JJ's ex-Rollies go?
I've been wondering this for some time. We all know "some guy" offered JJ $3,000 for the dreaded pumpkin... but what of the rest of the ones he turns over?
JJ, do you trade them in to Mansor's? Advertise locally? If I was Mansor, I'd have a waiting list of guys who will buy your ex-watches because I know I could get it back from you in a few months in outstanding condition, for the correct depreciation hit (ahem a song compared to retail) and then sell them as LNIB for a premium. So just what do you do with them when you want a new model JJ???? |

Where do you think all the sellers on e-Bay get their stock, John? Don't you read the captions:
"Like new TT Blue Sub. Hardly worn. Lovingly kept and maintained by original owner."

Good question, Johnny.
I have this one guy who is a watchnut like the rest of us. He knows how well I look after my babies and is ever ready to pick them up whenever I'm ready to sell them. You must bear in mind that I do get fabulous deals from Mansor's, so on most occasions I do get very nearly 90% of my money back. My watches look virtually brand new at the time of selling and the buyer still gets a far better deal than he would from any of the ADs here (only 2) 'cause they do me special deals only. JJ

Okay, so this one guy picks up all your watches?? Is everyone loonie in NZ?
Seriously, does he hang on to them or flip them after a while as well? And why haven't you invited this guy over here? |

I'm sure he keeps them. And I don't think he's the type who even has the time to fart around here like the rest of us. He's a businessman and, trust me, flat out most of the time.....even on weekends. He hardly has time for his family....seriously.

You're both lucky to have found each other. You get someone guaranteed to buy your passing fancies allowing you to move on to the next 'keeper' and he gets a complete run of the Rolex sports line at reduced cost.
Talk about a win-win. Oh, and Mansor's gets their stock moving too... win-win-win. |

Thanks, Johnny,
But please, oh Lord, give me strength and the courage and the fortitude to hang on to these 2 present ones. I really love both of them and the last thing I want is for my wifey to get angry about further deals. We have had a real serious talk this time and she has warned me about any further flipping. The funny thing is that she hates to sell. She doesn't mind if I buy one...it's just the getting rid of a good watch that pisses her off!! 2007 and TT Daytona.....here I come!!

AND! Mansor should make sure you get one without waiting in '07 because of the amount of business you give him. In fact, he should special order a big rosewood presentation box (the type given to the winner of the 24 hours of Daytona race) with your name engraved on it. You keep this guy in business singlehandedly, so it's the least Mansor should do. |

Sorry to burst your bubble, Johnny, but the white dial SS Daytona doesn't do much for me.
On the other hand, I saw the TT Daytona with rhodium dial just last week when I went to pick up my new Expy. Mansor had to mop up so much drool from all over his showroom floor. The picture below does it absolutely no justice. See this in person and you'll go bonkers!! JJ
