Panerai Service Question
I sent my 244 in because the date is changing at 3AM now for some reason. They called me back stating that everything including the movement look normal and the date change at 3AM is within manufacturer spec. This sounds crazy to me. Anybody had an experience like this?

I know that the Valjoux 7750 is temperamental and there should not be a date change made between 10-2AM. I've always made sure to not do this. For reference, the watch had always changed date +-1 min from midnight. I just find it unbelievable that a watch of this quality would flip the date at 3:15AM. My rolex, cartier, omega, etc. have never had this issue before.

I know the 7750 movement has issues with date change between 9-3AM but I definitely have note done that before. I always change at 6PM and then roll over to next day, letting the mechanism do the work. None of my other watches have this late of a date change. +-15 mins could be understandable but 3 hrs and 15 mins is crazy to me.

Unfortunately I'm positive it's at Panerai service in Fort Worth. I'm especially frightened with hearing this and reading all the other horror stories about issues after owners receive their watches. I'm hoping they get mine right. I've heard it's getting better.

UPDATE: Panerai service called me today and said they will cover the maintenance to fix it as a one-time comp because my movement was not damaged by me. They were easy to deal with during the whole process. I'm paying to have a new bezel and polishing done. Now the wait begins. Items they're doing:
1. maintenance service (fix date change issue and have it change at midnight) 2. new bezel 3. polishing I will post pics once it's done. Cheers. |

UPDATE: Definitely not the fastest service. I called today and they said there is a 3 week parts delay as they are waiting to get a gasket that is backordered. Expected to receive my watch back 3rd week of December now...currently making this a 2 month process (from day sent to day potentially received).

Got the watch back today! They did a great job with the polishing and it came back looking like new. Will post pictures later.
