It's hard to tell from this pic. A side view is much clearer as it basically buckled the chassis. Sort of looks like an accordian in a profile picture, but could not get one due to traffic.

A little better pic, but still hard to tell based on what looked like in real life. The officer guessed it will be totaled, but he admitted that he really isn't qualified to say.

I dont believe its bad enough to be a total loss needs a new bed, bumper and frame to be pulled does not look like any airbags deployed. That truck is hard to total out because its still worth $$$ ...

You will know better than me, for sure.

I do hope they do total it. But I'd guess your correct.

If not, it'll go to one of my team at this point.

This is the other guy. Pic also does little justice. But his front end is a pancake. Both air bags deployed.

I felt terrible for him. He was tearing up and really very nervous. I actually had to comfort him a bit before the officers showed up.

Seriously Unbelievable

Total loss varies by state. NJ uses a TLF calculation rather than a fixed percentage of value. For example, NY uses 75%.

This is what ta total loss looks like for a NY vehicle when I was rear ended in Miami.

Agree with Danny, that looks like it will be within the repair limit. I have seen F-150's in much worse shape repaired.

Why do you want to total it?

Mostly because there is clear frame damage. The entire reason I got it, was for the incredibly comfortable drive. At this stage, after only 2,000 miles it'll never drive like it was meant to again.

I've seen cars in NJ totaled with almost mimimal cosmetic damage, but totaled because the frame was pretty twisted.

It would just be easier this way. But I did just hire a new sales guy. I can move cars around a little and make it work out if need be.

Either way, my car is basically like my office. I put near to 30,000 miles on a year on my DD. And I tend to be pretty particular.

Best wishes for your recovery, Seth.
If you have to be rear-ended, an F150 is a pretty good vehicle to do it in.
The way the morons drive where I live I have often thought about buying an old beat-up F100 to use as a town car.

It's a truck, not a sports car. The repairs should leave it driving the same. I would be surprised if it was noticeable after the repairs.

I had a 1964 F100 for years Rock. It was a tank. I was hit several times and these newer cars sort of splattered against it. I sold it when I bought my '99 F250SD, which is also a tank (7.3L turbo diesel).

I can feel your pain Seth, I've had back problems myself and they clearly are no joke.

Get better soon brother and I am sorry to read about that accident. Hang in there.

Hey. Thanks again all.

Woke up today my normal optimistic self. Had a nice pity party last night but once again realizing how damned lucky I am.

And actually feeling no pain whatsoever from the accident. Still tender from the original surgery, but the F150 is literally a life saver. And I'm eternally grateful.

My insurance company is all over it, my auto body shop is ready to receive and I've got all my ducks lined up nicely.

My lead sales guy who drives a company owned raptor asked if he could take the f150 if it's not totaled (and I'm thinking Danny is right and it won't be). So I'm on my way, in an uber, to pick up a new truck that will ultimately be funded by the raptor I sell.

My sales guy is happy, I'm healthy and happy and just again realizing how friggin lucky I am in life as a whole.

I always say it's all about perspective. And I could very well be lamenting about my bad stroke of luck. But nah, I'm thinking I'm just about the luckiest guy in the world.

Glad you're ok. That is why I love Crown Vics and Grand Marquis'. People give me crap about driving a 70 year old man car, but those things are solid.
