Consolidating my collection

Hi everyone, I asked a few days ago for collection advice. Im still looking for opinions, this time regarding selling off some of my collection, reducing the size, and adding a few 'end game' watches.

My current collection is 7 watches:

Rolex BLNR
Rolex Daytona C
Rolex DD40 YG black dial
JLC reverso ultra thin duoface
Omega seamster 36.5mm
AP Royal Oak 15450ST. blue dial.
Patek 5205G blue dial.

All bought for retail.

My question is, I am tempted to downsize. The 3940 is a dream watch of mine. I feel the 5205 overlaps too much though so would probably sell to make room.
I also like the idea of an 1815 chrono, but again the Daytona overlaps.

The reverso was from my parents so wouldn't sell. Omega is a good daily, and the RO is special and would rotate nicely with the 3940 and 1815.

What are your thoughts. Basically it would mean selling my 5205, DD40, BLNR, Daytona and putting in a bit of cash to fund the 3940 and 1815 chrono.

Is this a silly consolidation? I do love the 4 I would be loosing, but it would be for 2 icons. What I would call end game watches.

So you are asking on a Rolex forum how people will feel about eliminating all of your Rolex collection? lol. You do you man. It’s a fine collection now matter how you look at it. I would keep the BLNR and get rid of the omega as daily.

Gotta keep one or 2 steel rolexes and you have a great combo there. There is nothing that overlaps with the daytona C and 1815 chrono in terms of style and wear as I have both (except the complication of course).

Going through a similar situation myself. I would keep a Rolex, my preference would be:

Keep the white Daytona and blue AP. Sell the rest and pick up a 3940!

Much prefer your current collection. I appreciate the 3940, but would never wear it. Also prefer 5170 over 1815, mainly dial design.

I like that plan. It is imo the best sport Rolex. The DaytonaC is what Rolex does best, the RO is what AP does best, and the 3940 is what Patek does best!

I like to think about this topic from a daily wear standpoint. What do you wear as a beater for work around the house, work watch, vacations, date night, formal wear, etc. cover your bases and wear them all regularly.

Speaking for myself not a fan of most all of the Patek range good movement's but just don't like there style so would not trade.

The 3940 is one of my favorites.

All of the rest are not for a variety of reasons, I would let them all go.

An AP jumbo would be something I considered.
Would also loook at other Rolex and patek.

As you have asked for opinions…
Easily paring down to 3:
PATEK 3940/ AP16202/ Rolex 14060 or 124060.

And of course keep the reverso for sentimental reasons.

Just reread and obviously would have to keep the Reverso also. So you would have a great collection of 4!

While at it I'd replace the 15450 with a Jumbo. Personally, I'd go 5402, 14802, or 15202 rather than 16202 but any Jumbo will be a great upgrade I think.

This is an awesome collection, and at MSRP to boot.

I suggest considering this very carefully and moving pieces very slowly.

You have a fabulous collection. Just keep it as is... but if something must change, I would ditch that Omega in a heartbeat. Then, maybe consolidate your Patek, BLNR, and AP and convert those three towards a blue dial nautilus, 5711 or 5811.

I wouldn't be selling anything from the collection. Its well balanced and has great variety.

I wouldn't add a 3940 and a 1815, I would choose one, then maybe add a Lange to fill the other gap. If pushed yes, I would sell the 5205G to the fund the 3940.

You bought everything at retail, you are the first owner, that is special.
Money for new watches will be made and accumulated over the next 3 years, don't make any knee jerk decisions today, collecting is a life time hobby and you have a beautiful collection.

You are going to get different responses from people who prefer sports watches on bracelets from those who favor dress watches on straps. Either way you go or do not go, you wind up with a great collection.

The Reverso has to stay for obvious reasons.

I’d keep the Patek and the Daytona, and maybe add a different diver

Wouldn’t it have been easier to post pictures of your watches instead of cutting and pasting all those internet images into a single photo?

You have a diverse collection. It certainly is hard to consolidate as we all amass our collections based on our own tastes. I guess you are asking for opinions. I know I would never reach for an omega if I had the rest of your collection in my watchbox. I can’t think of too many places to wear a yellow DD so I would never wear it. Keep the reverso, the Daytona and the BLNR and trade the rest. That should generate enough cash to upgrade your Patek if desired.

Assuming you’ll keep the Omega and JLC, I would want a Jumbo (16202/15202) and a Patek 3970/5270, that would eliminate the ALS. Oh and I’d keep the Daytona too.
That would cost you the most but would be a wonderful collection.

The PP and AL&S would be great additions. I'd try to do some shuffling to keep a SS Rolex in the mix.

I would try to keep the BLNR vs the Omega. And I think the 5205 is perhaps the best looking watch PP has made. But i get the desire for a perpetual.
