Manila airport NAIA security

Are you required to take off your watch before going through airport security? Thanks

No idea about Manila airport. But had to take my watch off at Dubai, Istanbul, Bangalore, New Delhi international airports. But not at Changi or Narita. Never had to take my watch off at any US airport (domestic/international).

Bring a travel case if you want your rolex inside a protected watch pouch should you need to take it off.

Many countries do, including the US and Canada. Simple reason is because of the metal detector. Last I checked, our watches are metal.

Good idea to bring something to pop it in. I usually put mine in my shoe tucked in with a sock.

In States if you’re TSA Pre or Global Entry, then you don’t need to take off anything. Foreigners are a different story.

Manila airport NAIA security

I didn’t on my recent trip there.

I was wearing long sleeves that covered the watch and I went through the body scan not metal detector.

I find that my watch doesn’t set metal detectors off.

Your mileage may vary.

Stainless steel doesn’t generally ping metal detectors. TSA (USA) doesn’t require removal of watches prior to initial screening. If worried about removing a watch and sending it through the scanner, you can always request a private screening with a witness. All property will remain within eye sight.

Depends on the airport. I can’t recall the last time I had to remove my watch at any airport in the US and I’m on at least two flights every weekly over the country. Didn’t have to remove my watch flying through Amsterdam, Bologna, Rome, or London this past month. In the event I would be required to remove my watch, I’d simply place it in the pocket of my briefcase which is what I do with my wallet and phone

I don't recall removing mine when going through security there. At the same time, their security is tighter than the average airport.

I just put my watch in a travel pouch inside my carry on before I get to security.

It’s a hassle to remove your watch after the fact and it inconveniences other travelers. YMMV.

Not true. I’m TSA Pre-Check. I’ve had to take it off at ORD T5, MDW, and ATL.

Stainless steel usually does not trigger the metal detector.

Just got back from my trip to Japan. On the way there, TSA told me that any metal belt buckle, Amex Plaitnum card and metal watch (Tudor Black Bay) will trigger the sensors and have to be removed and place on their tray (i have TSA Precheck) and this was at LAX.

While in Japan traveling on their domestic flights, we had to remove our shoes, cellphone, and wallet (I had my Apple watch on during this part lol).

Just stuff it in your carry on before security to avoid having to remove it at the last moment and having to dump it in a tray.

There are a lot of brave people who will say they never remove it but they don’t fly if the security insists .
Arguing with airport security is only going to delay you and the people behind you, good for nothing

The US allows nationals of some countries to have Global Entry. I do for instance (UK).

If you have Global Entry you don't need TSA Pre.

I have been to airports all over this planet and have never had to remove my watch. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Me, neither. If I would've been asked to take it off, I would bury it to the bottom of my bag that's getting scanned so as to attempt to mitigate any five-finger-discounts.

Could've just been that TSA agent that day at that airport. There don't seem to be hard-and-fast rules that individual TSA lanes adhere to.
