It's up to the branch manager to allocate these peices and purchase history is one of those boxes that needs checked.

That would be called a bribe.
Interesting question is do you want to do that with all your purchases? |

Print your resume on nice thick paper, wear a nice suit, then go in with confidence, a firm handshake and ask to speak with the owner.
Tell him you are a fast learner, good with managing people and that you have a car. Oh wait, wrong thread. |

Is this something new? This is how grey dealers get most of their BNIB watches. They mostly give this kind of "tips" to the shop owners that are happy to sell their watches through back door. This is not fantasy, this is how it works.

So, you won't buy things you don't need, but you’re OK bribing someone to get a watch?
People like you are the problem |

what if I offered the sales lady a cash “Tip” of $5k on the side
Maybe a time will come when you are not so desperate for attention. |

I know my post reeks of desperation and I already have a Sky Dweller, Panerai, Breitling and an Omega. Maybe instead of a Daytona I should look at this since it also has a date feature. Btw sealed and new in box pandas are going for well over $32k on Chrono 24 which I will never pay. This might make more sense.

Nice AP you have the right idea pertaining to the AP. Invest the 5k in crypto or PM metals watches are beautiful but not necessary and are luxury items ! Good luck in your watch venture! AP's good value at this time IMO.

So many people being hypocritical!
1. It's ok to buy watches/jewelry you do not want just to get a chance to buy the watch you want. 2. It's ok to constantly visit ADs, taking gifts, bring coffee, etc. 3. It's ok to pay thousands over retail on the secondary market because "Time is Money". 4. It's ok to pay ADs thousands over retail for an old watch via CPO because "I feel so safe!" Are those any less desperate? Just making sure I know the line. |

$5k won’t get it done to get close to a SS Daytona at the AD. These are for $100k spenders to be vetted for a SS Daytona list.
Go grey market or look forget it.

If people don't want to pay a single penny over RRP for a watch, then that's absolutely fine, but I agree it's hard for people who happily buy watches they don't want in the hope of getting a chance to buy the watch they do want, to take the moral high ground here.

My self esteem would prevent me from even envisaging what is basically bribery…. Heck i wouldn’t even bribe someone to get a transplant earlier if I needed one.
If I were the SA i’d ask 1 year in wages upfront to cover myself in case of redundancy, not such measly handout.

I still dont get the silly game people play with Rolex. I have my Air King, and its probably the only Rolex i'll ever get because im not prepared to 'play the game', but at least i have my dignity intact. There's nothing more pathetic or un dignifying when trying to buy an aspirational, luxury good which marks an achievement in life than grovelling to a salesperson to get a wrist trinket.... Fair enough if you want to cut out all the BS and go grey because its a rare or discontinued piece but a lot of the time people just need to take a step back and give their head a wobble. |

-you are dumb to spend more than retail by "tipping" the dealer to get what you want BUT - you should definitely go to a Grey Market dealer that has "tipped" the AD so they can charge you much more. Makes total sense

honest question, what country is tipping a retail employee a crime, let alone a life sentence? Have you ever "slipped a $20" to the host/hostess at a restaurant to get the table quicker? Have you ever been to an all inclusive resort and given the bartender $$ so that you get your drinks a bit faster than others? Have you ever handed the Valet a $10 with your ticket so he pulls your key from the rack first? Wow, 25 to life for tipping a Retail Employee to try to have the "honor" of buying a $10k watch? Where do you live? the other day, the guy at the tire place got a cross threaded lugnut off for me, I handed him a $10 and told him to grab coffee on me, I hope he didn't report me to the feds. On a totally separate note: How do I start a thread on here "Going to Federal Prison, Should I Wear SS Daytona or Explorer?" LOL
