Awesome story & an incredibly awesome Daytona.
It’s also really nice that it brings back such wonderful memories of your Father. Agree 100% this story represents everything that owning a Rolex SHOULD be about, but as you say, unfortunately it now seems they have simply become commodities to be traded to the highest bidder. Take care Peter & enjoy your Fathers watch, it’s an absolute thing of beauty Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Have to agree with many today thats all they think about, Rolex to some are no longer watches just seen now as little more than ££££$$$$$.

Yes status and perceived success are far easier to advertise now social media. Easily recognisable brands have done well. Rolex has ended up in a good position marketing wise.

Lovely watch, the 6263 is my my favorite watch Rolex has made. I have a somewhat similar story. My father would never buy a Rolex for himself, In 2005 I had some spare money and I bought him Rolex GMT II. Just walked into a an AD in London, at this time the AD's had sports watches I recall, except possibly the Daytona but it may have been out of my price range.
We still have the watch in the family. So nice to hand these watches down or up generations as well. |

Social media IMHO mostly in today's age very unsocial so called social media, never felt the need to use it and never will.
