Oris
I like what they’re doing, especially the Pro Pilot and Aquila lines. What are your thoughts on the brand?

In terms of brand, they seem like they are testing the waters of going a bit upmarket with their Big Crown Pro Pilot X. I personally like the watch, but almost feels a bit like a VW Phaeton in terms of the reach. Doesn't make it a bad watch, I think its a terrific watch but the secondary market seems to be super soft on it. |

They make great looking watches, but at that price point where I feel if I spend just a bit more, or a bit less, I would have greater satisfaction.

I’m a huge fan. I still love my bronze bezel divers 65. I enjoyed it much more than my Tudor black by 58.

I recently bought the Aquis Caliber 400 in 41.5mm for a summer/travel watch that can take anything from splashing in the pool to fine dining. It was discounted 27% at an AD webshop, and for the price it's very good. There are some annoyances like sharp inner edges on the bracelet (any hints on how to best smooth them out are welcome) and overly ambitious power reserve (accuracy is awesome except if you fully wind the watch, in which case it goes haywire). Construction and finishing are good to very good. One thing I especially appreciate is that Oris has their own design language instead of trying to copy Rolex - the Aquis looks completly different than a sub, even though it's in the same specific segment.
I can see the brand going long ways with their competitive specs and broad distribution network. Collectible? Probably not. Good watches for an attractive price? Definitely. |

Yeah, the Divers 65 is great. Very comfortable on my 6.5" wrist (I've only tried it on, I don't own it) I felt it wore a little better than the BB58 if my memory is correct.
Also the Big Crown Pointer Date is a very cool watch. I've tried several on...If I decide to get an Oris, this is where I would go, but a Divers 65 would be a close second. As I mentioned, there are plenty of other watches on my shortlist though, Oris is far down the list. But I do like them and would be happy to wear a few. |

I like & respect Oris.
An independent Swiss company with some interesting innovations. I admire them greatly for their commitment to ecological and charitable causes. Offer great value for money, which I feel is respectful of their customer base. I only own one - an Aquis - and it’s well made for the modest price. In terms of quality, I’d generalise by saying they’re a cut above all the microbrands, probably on a par with TAG Heuer, but below Tudor. |
