Omega Polar vs Polar Explorer pick one

Rolex Explorer II .. prefer the Rolex to the Omega .. Will hold better value I believe too ..

They pretty much only share white dials. I don't even think they are remotely comparable. That being said, the explorer 2 is my choice. But plenty of room in a collection for both

I’ve owned both, ExpII hands down(wearing it now)

The SMP300 misses the mark in white, its very photogenic but on the wrist it reminded me of a low end Tag. The bezel just looked off to me. Mine was on rubber and major fail they didnt incorporate a deployant, the tang puts off a cheap vibe. Legibility also suffers with the sword hands.

No Omega hater here, Im a long time fan of POs and older Seamaster.

It's a cool watch and Rolex is a far better brand than Omega.

I have s 300M Tokyo, it’s one of my favorite watches and had actually increased in value since I bought it.

That said, the 226570 is much more special (as it should be atr twice the price). The Omega is more bling with the ceramic bezel, but the ExpII just nails what a proper tool watch should be. I also find the GMT hand to be much more useful than a dive bezel that’s hard to turn.

I vote Explorer II.

Not because it's a Rolex, but because I really don't like the Seamaster 300. The hands, the bezel edge...just none of it. I do however own a Seamaster PO and I like it a lot.

Buy what you like and then resale, brand, etc, doesn't matter. Both are great watches.

Exp II vote - the gmt hand, legibility. Depends on what you use the watch for I guess. I’ve rarely missed the need for a rotating bezel.

I own a blue seamster and have been after a polar for a long time. But that’s another story…white SMP very good in photos but for a more similar price I’d say planet ocean with the orange bezel. But then that’s too dark thick! Polar is over priced and omega on secondary is better value. But long term the polar holds most value. Both really nice watches but if money not a consideration the Rolex.

If the Omega had a better bracelet and no HEV, I'd choose it. My vote is with the Explorer 2. And if possible, I'd take the 5 digit polar Explorer 2 instead, as I like the size better and think the red GMT hand is a cleaner look.

Explorer II - personally I find it’s considerably more comfortable, less top heavy and thinner. Plus has a much nicer bracelet and very useful GMT function. And both dive watches I’ve had with a rotating bezel have needed repaired at some point so I’m quite happy with a fixed bezel. My Exp II has also been scuba diving and it does that just fine.

I do like the dial on the omega. And I prefer the price so it’s not an entirely fair comparison. They are quite different - the one thing both these watches have in common for me is I prefer the black dial variant of both for daily wear!

The escape valve kills the whole range for me.
The Explorer takes it hands down, and I'm not into GMT watches.

personally, they are both amazing pieces. If I had to choose between them, I would definitely go with the Omega piece because of its uniqueness. Most wristwatch lovers want to have a piece that seems like it's out of context and yet classic.

Omega is the better looking watch with many strqp options especially oem rubber, the movement is really good too. The explorer II is somewhat dull and not among popular models.

The Omega is also cheaper and if u buy it 2nd hand you probanly won't lose money.

Own the blue SMP.

One thing about those co-axial movements: you pick them up after having sat for weeks and they run like they were just wound.

It’s like they’re frictionless. I have no doubt they’re a much more robust movement than new Rolex 32xx.

Explorer II is perfect. Refined for generations, and it shows.

I don't like the Omega skeleton hands, the odd HE valve on the left side of the case, the smaller date display or the lack of dual time function. The Seamaster does not wear as nicely as the Rolex and is more clunky. Other than that, the Omega is a fine watch.

Diff watches totally. On pure looks, I'd take the Omega every day. Hate the stainless bezel on the polar.

I was into Omega from 1996 to 2018 when I sold my Omega collection (Ploprof 1200, SMP300, Moonwatch (861 cal), Railmaster Chronograph, Seamaster Rose Gold/Titanium chronograph, and GMT. No complaints and great wearing watches on my wrist, including the Ploprof.

Love the skeleton hands, size, bezels, everything. Hate the thick wave design on the more recent dials. Deal killer.

Explorer II wins out over the Omega shown, for me. Actually, I prefer the red GMT hand for the Explorer.

Do you need a timing bezel or GMT function?

For smaller wrist size, I say go for the SMP. I found Exp II a bit too big and flat on my small wrist.

Price? One is more than twice the price of the other one.

Wouldn't even wear the Explorer II if it was given to me so SMP 300 all day, any day. Just not with the white dial.

The Explorer II is comparatively clean looking, is not encumbered with a dirty great bezel, and most important of all it has a GMT complication. You're not really comparing like with like. If I was looking for a dive watch it would be a Sub date.

I owned SMP white but sold it and bought Exp recently.
Didn’t like the waves on the dial, small date window, bezel was hard to use when wet ( too slippery)

Explorer looks cleaner, no pointless valve, fits and feels better due to lower profile and not top heavy.
Design is more timeless.
100m is enough for regular water activities and GMT is a nice bonus.
