Rolex Insurance

Is it best to get separate Rolex insurance or put on house insurance or both?
What is the best separate insurance UK based?

Adding to household insurance in my experience has always worked out way cheaper.

That said, I’ve never had to make a claim so cannot comment on that front and if my way is best or not

If you have Rolexes that regularly gain value due to vintage, or rarity, then a specialized policy for them may be best.

A Personal Articles Policy (PAP)with the same insurer that underwrites your homeowners is usually less costly.

But you may struggle to get full replacement value above and beyond MSRP if you have a loss. Stated value policies can help but can also be hard to find.

My experience was a $250K-ish burglary. I was self-insured for the highest value watches because my insurer only did depreciated value for jewelry (which was the category for Rolex). It’s a pain but now I use a PAP.

I think it depends on the value of the watch. I use Hiscox for my insurance and they cover it under contents and don’t quibble or need any valuations up to £15k. My son uses NatWest and they have lots of restrictions like safe bolted to floor, £10k max and if not on your wrist must be in the safe etc. so difficult to give you benefit of knowledge
I guarantee though doing through home insurance will be most cost effective route

I think there are some advantages to dedicated watch insurance depending on your homeowners policy. International coverage, you choose the deductible, willingness to cover for replacement value vs msrp, etc. I pay around 1% of the value of the watch yearly for very broad coverage, I shopped around but just to give you an idea. Maybe I’m overpaying. Also I have never made a claim so take that for what it’s worth.
