Watch winders and safes

For those of you that like to keep your watches on winders for extended periods of time, are you concerned about theft?

On that note, does anyone have any suggestions for safes that can manage a quad watch winder?

Open to other suggestions.

This one has access for electrics and will hold several quad winders.

It also has a 90 minute fire rating. Theft shouldn't be your only concern.

IMO, options could be battery powered (whether you get a winder that has a built in battery or you have an external battery inside the safe) or to run a wire through the safe. The former could have risks if you are using a battery with materials that can still burn in the absence of an external oxygen supply and the latter could compromise both the fire and burglary performance, as well as the safe's ability to maintain water resistance. Some speciality watch safes do exist (many that have some impressively fancy features and cost more than a car) although I cannot speak to their implementation specifics.

You can get safes in almost any size you want. The question really comes down to the kind of protection you want with respect to burglary, fire, or burglary and fire protection (as well as weight, size, and cost limitations). Most safes marketed to consumers don't provide much burglary protection and may not fare well if a forced entry attempt is made, and they commonly have inconsistent fire performance. There are also safes that can withstand sophisticated attacks with specialty power tools and protect the contents for an extended period in the absolute worst of fires, and these safes are often much more affordable than one might think.

There are quite a few good brands out there but don't worry about brand too much until you have some idea of what type of performance you want. Further, some makers produce everything from locking boxes that look like safes up through true TL-30x6/UL350 high-security safes, so brand alone doesn't always tell a full story.

One good thing is that a fireproof safe with internal mains power will contain a fire if the watch winder bursts into flames due to a lack of venting/cooling?

A battery winder would be my choice.

The only winder I have ever needed, and at one time had over 30 watches, is the ones attached to my arms called wrists.
