I'm into guitar, recording and music in general. I'm also into motorcycles, books (sci-fi, fantasy), and I used to collect knives.

I'm into bowling right now.
I'm not very good, yet, but I have started taking lessons. Last year, I played in my first USBC sanctioned league. I was the most improved bowler having improved my average from about 121 to 137, 16 pins. I also played in a short doubles league in which my teammate and I took the championship. I had a 144 average in that league. Thank God for handicaps. This year I started one league with last year's average of 137. I currently have an average of 170 and I'm up 27 pins according to the league. I'm not sure how they figure that. In that league, so far, I've bowled a 255 high scratch game and a 647 high scratch series. My average for September was 150. I started lessons I think the first week in October and my average for October was 189. I'm also playing in a new league (to me) and I have a 163 average in that league. The funny thing about this league is how consistent I've been in it. They don't post the stats like the other league, but I have a high game of 199 (twice) and every week but one out of about 6 weeks, I've averaged in the 160s, except week before last when I averaged 158. As you can see, I've got a long way to go, but I really am having the time of my life. I never knew bowling could be so much fun.

Well my only pretty gear are my monoblocs (they are older but tubelike in sound which I love)...my wife thinks my towers look like trashcans and have been sent to the dungeon (basement). Although I have more money in my interconnects and speaker cables than anyone should ever spend...they are boring to look at (Transparent Reference XL)
My Trashcans... What are you running? I am getting the itch to change things up again myself. |

...don't like to see pictures of animals killed on a watch forum, not appropriate at all.
Btw I'm not judging anyone who chooses to do this, just pointing out this is a forum for WIS and there are other forums to get pictures like that if you chose to visit them.

Golf is my main hobby. For years I put a lot of money into the latest and greatest equipment, but now I just play my old forged Titleists from 2003. The driver is really the only thing worth upgrading every 3 years or so, as long as it makes the ball go straighter. I play to a respectable 9-10 handicap now, playing about every other week during the warm months. I have been as low as 6 when I could hit the ball longer and played weekly. I don't hit range balls at all. If I warm up before a round, it's on the chipping green. Short game is everything.

No but one of the guys hunting with us did. I did take the other animals. The tag alone for an elephant is 6 figures (over $100k) depending where u hunt. and very few are killed. Those that do go for these large, dangerous, spend $150-200k on a 21-30 day trip. I was there when the hunter took the elephant. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I didn't mean to. It was late and my wife and I had been out and posted late after a few drink thinking it was finrs. Please accept my apologies but I thought it was ok because I removed the graphic pics and fire arm pics. I don't want to debate but we all see ground beef in the grocery store. Ill keep pics like this off even in OT but what I did was 100% legal, done humanely, and provides large amounts of $$$ to the African countries to prevent this from being done illegally from poachers l. These villages depend on hunters for their entire existence. Some collect $100000 watches and some spend $100-200k a year on safaris. I am a biologist and keeping these animal populations need to be watched closely so the species will thrive with enough food sources and habitat just because I hunt doesn't mean I don't think these lives are worthless. I belong to many conservation companies and wouldn't kill animals who are in trouble. Ill drop the subject but just wanted to say sorry and hope those offended will accept my apology.

My other hobbies are:
Stock markets Knife collecting Guitar and Ukulele As for the hunting pics, I can understand why some people are against it due to the rather graphic nature of the sport. (Recall when the GoDaddy CEO posted his hunt video and got blasted for it.) And I personally don't think I could hunt since I don't think I could bring myself to kill a large mammal...granted I happily eat meat all the time. But that said, what Gunter says is true. The hunts do provide benefits to the African communities. And IIRC, the GoDaddy hunt actually killed a problem elephant that was destroying villager crops--and the elephant provided food for the village. So like Gunter says, the animal is not simply killed for game, it is killed for food and in a humane way. (I.E. The hunters do not take shots when there is a chance that the game will escape wounded.) I see that as a win-win. There is a big difference between the illegal killing and poaching that was recently featured on the cover of Nat Geo and the type of legally organized big game hunts that Gunter has participated in. The former is a clear evil. The latter, I can accept. And hey, if he wants to go on 6-figure safaris, I'm jealous. I'd want to go too (but not to hunt...just ride around in a Land Rover and see animals.) |

Having lived in Africa and known many local hunters, buck was commonly hunted for game meat and sport.
Elephant, Hippo and lions are normally viewed as off limits, and are rarely hunted by anyone other than extremely well paying tourists. Sure it’s not illegal but feels like the equivalent of me posting up a whole lot of pictures of dead Labradors and Bald eagles. |

I can't even get my head around how someone can actually find pleasure and fufillment in killing any animal like that for trophy purposes. It is beyond vile.

This was supposed to be about people's hobbies, not a discussion on killing animals.
I don't really approve of the depiction of multiple dead animals here as a sporting pursuit.
