Icon2 3 Rolex Or 1 Grail

hypothetical question: would you rather have a 3 rolex collection (sub, gmt, and daytona) or a single grail (5990 or double balance)?

It depends on the individual. Personally I would go with the robustness of the 3 rolex.

For many, one of those three Rolex would be a grail. Buy what you love.

3 Rolex Or 1 Grail

All the above. If I could have one of those grails, there shouldn’t be any constraints with having 2 or 3 Rolexes, too.

3 Rolex because I need a different watch for different occasion. Unless your 1 watch is a GADA watch which these two isn't imho.

Unable to answer this as the 116500 is Rolex grail and 5164A is PP grail.

Question is…would it be harder to get those three at retail or the grail at retail……

I would pick the three though.

I’d take the 5990. I think it’s a great looking grail and can’t imagining being offered one at the AD or paying market. I’d wear it every day.

If you flipped a white gold day date with green dial or platinum one for the LV sub I might take the 3 though.

The3 in the example are superior to either of the 1 shown. In fact an excellent trio.

The two at the bottom do nothing for me, aesthetically speaking, and I don’t really care much about their complications, so I’d choose 3 Rolexes, but different ones than in your pics.

Depends on whether or not you will actually wear the grail. I like the 3 Rolex option better, but the two grail options are killer watches. If they are going to sit in the box 90% of the time then that does not compute.

I'll take the 3 Rolex. Each of those is a grail in its own right

Agree, it’s not a fair/even comparison as the grails are significantly more expensive than the 3 Rolex watches.

The above aside, I’d go with just the 1 grail

With only the watches on offer as shown in the pics, I'm taking those three Rolex home with me, thanks!

Broadly speaking three instead of one. Gives you choices in different situations.

Of those three though only the Daytona would interest me.

Would you also buy any of these if they were not currently the most hyped watches? One thing is to buy watches for investment. That makes sense now if you can buy any of these at retail price. At retail I would buy any of them that is available. To buy a hyped watch at 2x or 3x rrp is highly speculative and there is big risk involved. Other thing is to buy a watch to wear. Then I would forget the hype factor and would rather try to figure out which sings to me the most, which matches my lifestyle, which colour I like, size, function, etc regardless of the actual hype.

I had the 5990 and 15407st before the whole hype started. That time they were available at or close to retail. I really wanted to use them as a daily watch, I tried it but after some time I realized that none of them really suit my style even though both of them were beautiful. I sold both of them (unfortunately) and bought a Lange Zeitwerk and a Moser Pioneer and they make me happy...

Rolex x 3. I surely appreciate the Patek and AP but the sport Rolex models are more my style / taste.

I’d rather have the 3 Rolex.

I’m not sure I could daily the other two, and I’m uncomfortable having a lot of money tied up in one watch, YMMV

The 3 watch collection for me is better just for having the choice to wear more
