All I got from this post is fantastic watch, my next one, and guilt because I need to get to the gym!

Camdridge dictionary: "someone who regularly does special exercises to make their muscles bigger." There's a distinction between being a professional/competitive bodybuilder and just a 'bodybuilder' meaning anyone that lift weights in order to enhance their physical appearance. If you go to the gym on a regular basis you are 'per definition' a bodybuilder. You are not a competing bodybuilder, you are not a professional bodybuilder but you are a bodybuilder. |

But what does the Cambridge dictionary say? Where do the professional bodybuilders go if they don’t go to a gym?

To those ripping into the OP for not looking more like Dorian Yates but daring to use the sacred terminology, thank you for doing double duty gatekeeping for both the bodybuilding and watch communities. I hope it doesn’t affect anyone’s performance.

To the OP brilliant post, I do weightlifting myself first thing in the morning and I wear my CHNR, chocolate Yacthmaster and bimetal sub to the gym and the only problem I had was my pin coming out if my yacthmaster which my AD fixed on the spot.
I agree the best place for your watches is on your wrist, not in your car or locker. I have noticed some lovely pieces in the gym these days. |

Best bodybuilding watch
Why would anyone want to wear a Rolex to the gym? They don’t have wall clocks?
I mean, I get it if someone has one watch and never takes it off…. but to strategize on which piece to wear? |

I wear a Hulk into the gym, because I want people to know I'm just that jacked. Then I change into twin Platonas to do presses, curls, and rows. Next I extend the EasyLink, hold the bracelet like a handle, and do kettlebell swings with them. Neither the dumbbells nor kettlebells are quite heavy enough to get that good a pump. Finally, I close the extension and slide each of them onto a bar to do squats with. Need to make sure that there are plastic collars available, though, as I don't want metal ones to scratch the watch.

1) the watch isn't safe in the car 2) the watch isn't safe in the locker 3) heading to the gym from work and wearing the watch 4) not heading to a place where the watch is left after working out and need a watch. I'm certain there are many other reasons. I'm really curious as to the lack of consideration in asking your question. Why did you feel a need to ask it or what were you really thinking about? |

No watch as it gets in the way of the wrist straps. I wouldn't lift with my watches as they'd very likely get battered.

Alternatively if I know I'm going gym I won't wear a watch I don't feel safe enough to keep in a locker or in the car - actually I don't want ANYONE in the gym to know I'm wearing a Rolex. The thiefs in a gym will more obviously spot you wearing it during a workout vs if it is in a locker or locked in your car. |

Wow, thanks for the lesson bro science this morning.
I've been lifting weights, running ultra marathons and owning Rolex watches for years now and didn't realise I was doing it wrong all this time! Rolex watches do not belong in a gym. Wearing a Rolex to lift is similar to women who go to the gym to do 'cardio' covered in make up. It's all for someone else's benefit. |

Where I work out when I work out there are no issues with thieves eyeing me in the gym so I'm not worried about being spotted and later jumped. That might be more of an inner city issue and even particular to London. |

I wear an apple watch for training/running, but I don't have to go to an office before or after.
Probably the craziest piece I've seen in a gym is at the place we go in Florida a guy wearing a PLATINUM ROO (I think this one 26401PO)

Also, before you harp on me...I don't lift insanely heavy, but my compound lifts (deadlifts, squat, bench) are enough to make it into the 1000 lb club. I wear my Rolex to the gym and it's not to flex. I just enjoy having it on me, it reminds me to push myself. It's different strokes for different folks, man.
