Day Date Dilemma

So I’ve been a long time Rolex collector but always on the professional side. The day date though is one of the iconic Rolexes. So can folks educate me along the line? Is it due for an update or not? I like the RG green dial or platinum slate dial without the fluted bezel. How is the bracelet? I guess no glide lock or 5mm extension so needs to work in hot and cold environments during the year. Like the Daytona line where there are more popular pieces does the same exist within the day date line? Pictures are always appreciated. Thanks!!
