I have a pool and a hot tub in my backyard so always stuck with "diver" style watches or anything with a screw down crown and at least 100M WR. I used to own a DJ41 briefly and it took daily dips in the pool without a single issue.

And I'm also a "date" guy. Hence why I've never bothered with speedy (nor daytona) in the first place. I've handled it at AD's and like the speedy but due to reasons above, I'll never own it. If I itch for a white dial, I'd rather get the polar Exp2. Speedy only has a single gasket on the non screw down crown giving that 50m WR....and no gaskets on the crown pushers. A accidental push on the crown or failed gasket and watch is RIP in a feet of water.

At $8k, it just becomes a "dress" chrono. If I want a dress chrono, I'd rather get IWC as they pretty much rule in the dress watches segment with some terrific dial designs.

I’m on the list for the white speedy, but I ditched my Daytona years ago. I guess I get partial credit in regards to this thread

Clearly there are differences that could be a turn off..

Manual Wind
Low water resistance w/o screw down crowns
Aluminum Bezel
Open caseback

But there are a lot of boxes both check..

Great History and Iconic
White Dials
Brand cachet

Sooooo...

What do you 126500LM owners think of the new Omega comparatively and do you plan on buying one? Why or why not? Genuinely curious.

Not redundant at all and I love my black Daytona but this is a different watch. I love it in particular on the rubber strap - just awesome

For those worried about size... the moonwatch (both black and
white) measures 39.7mm at the bezel. It's only marketed at 42mm because of the crown guards. Lug to Lug at 47.5mm wears easily on smaller wrist.

I too was worried that the white would wear bigger than the black but somehow it actually wears smaller. I jumped on the waitlist almost immediately after trying it on.

My main issue with the Speedy is the bracelet. It feels cheap and tinny. The dial is so compelling in pictures, but in person, the red text actually looks closer to hot pink. I’m probably in the minority, but this watch feels less substantial than I had expected.

Whoa..

I don't know if its the angle , but the 3861 looks yuuuggee next to your Daytona. Great pic.

The other side of the argument is that the new 3861 bracelet is super comfortable.

I have a black dial sapphire sandwich (for now), and tend to agree that the bracelet doesn't "feel" commensurate to a watch that cost about $9k after taxes.

I haven't hear the hot pink comment yet, I'm excited to see it in person. It does look like a fair amount of white dial Daytona owners are indeed interested.

I have a black 116500 and placed an order at my AD this month for the white speedy.

I have always wanted to want a traditional moonwatch but could never acquire the taste for the dial or the last generation bracelet. This new one checks off all the boxes of diversifying brands, more detailed and textured dial, nice bracelet, and of course being white.

It does look huge in that pic, but i think it’s a combo of angle and dial/subdial/bezel combos playing tricks. There’s no way it’s that much bigger.

The white Speedmaster has an interesting dial that changes up in varying light conditions. I have not really seen the pink that is listed as red but it is possible depending on the lighting. The white dial is so different. I have owned the 2020 Tokyo Speedmaster with the silver/white dial several times and it is difficult to read because of the hands but not the new white dial as the hands contrast very well.

Looks bigger to me - which is a good thing since to my eyes the Daytona is too small. The Daytona's fatter bezel and smaller dial make it look smaller than it is. The opposite for the Speedy.

How many 126500LN owners are buying a white dial Speedy?

Look at post #37 and you'll see that's not the case.

In this photo the Speedmaster is sitting off his hand, closer to the camera, magnifying the size.

The Daytona looks like a 39 and the Speedy a 41 to me

Yes!

The rubber strap would not allow the white dial to sit flat on my hnd and therefore, it is propped up and closer to camera (appear bigger in the picture). The size is very comparable to ceramic Daytona to me.

i have a black dialed Daytona (since 2016) and the white speedy for more than a month now ,
i can say they complement themselves very well the speedy taking more wrist time currently.
the bracelet is super comfortable i wouldn't say its light and tinny but would compare it to the Rolex jubilee bracelet.
hope this helps

Can’t wait to get the call for the white dial to pair with the SS Daytona.

I think world of AND.

I have the new white speedy on order entering a collection with:

Breitling Heritage B09 pistachio - great dial but very thick, deployant feels cheap (switch to tang), and the pusher feel on start is MEH.

IWC Portuguese Classic Chronograph Laureus IW390406 - Nothing bad to say about this. Haven’t worn in years. Wore it one time to a party my friend threw, he’s a collector, and he seemed to like this one and spent a while inspecting it.

Patek 5960/1A-001 - Great watch, amazing complications for the money and one day people will recognize the value, especially the black dial. Chrono pushers feel much better than cheaper pieces.

Speedmaster 1957 Trilogy Limited - I immediately put this on a NATO for some reason when I got it and kept it like that. A great watch but haven’t worn it in a while.

Had two different Daytonas and sold both of them. At this point considering maybe Platona or a PM ROC.
