Very good film, by the way. Wife liked it too (she spotted a Rolex, Seiko and Omega!) Thanks for the recommendation.

As a diver my only ritual post dive is to rinse the salt water off, sometimes just put it in a glass of clean water for a soak for a bit.

I know it's a few months old, this thread and that I've posted the picture before, some 12 years ago but one of the Royal Navy Clearance Diver manuals from the 70 - 80's mentions not wearing the dive watch in hot showers or baths. We all know that Rolex was a CD issue watch. So all this "internet myth" has a basis in pre-internet times.

Here's the bottom line....if you can survive it, your Submariner can too. Leave the watch on and leave the worries behind. You are NOT going to damage a Sub by swimming, hot tubs, showering, soap, roller coasters, rough sex or inversion tables. You may however get relieved of your Rolex from your arm however if you visit certain bad neighborhoods with alert thieves who may be the ONLY ones who actually notice that you are wearing a Rolex. https://abc7news.com/oakland-theft-r...bery/11317540/

There was once a thread on here with someone who's Rolex charged colour in the hot tub.
Turned the colour of Rose Gold iirc.

I think it was to do with the chemicals and I seem to recall Rolex sorted it out in the end.

Anyone got the link?

Real world I have worn my sub 20 years day and night…inclusive of every shower, bath, hot tub, scuba diving, beach, pool, rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, sauna, steam and extreme radiant heat.

I have been washing it in the shower with any soap available for all that time. I have never had a single issue related to my carefree use. Yet somehow the question of “can it be worn for x ... Still persists?

I on the other hand no longer participate in many of the activities that my Rolex is still capable of.

FYI I wear my 5711 the same way.

Genuine question, have you ever washed the skin under your watch?!

I read somewhere in Rolex literature that you shouldn’t wear your watch in a hot tub because it’s “bad” for it.
Rolex has published an ad with a Rolex in in a clear pot of boiling water.

Relax. Showers hot tub etc. A Rolex is tougher than your skin, which can take all of that

Watch is on the looser side so has enough movement to and fro.
Also direct water spray to area when I feel the need to take it off for extra cleaning that is typically the time I go ahead and wash the watch.
