DD40 AR Crystal

Hey Everyone,

do you know when Rolex updated the DD40 Crystal with AR on the underside?

My DD has it, it also has a blue seconds hand, wonder when they updated that too.

Anyway FYI looks like Rolex are updating crystals and for me this is a big improvement.

Can you please post some pictures in the sunlight and at an angle?

Are you sure DD40s also got the AR Crystal? My DD40 is due for a service and I will 100% ask RSC to install a new AR crystal if they are rolling them out.

AR makes the dial pop immensely thats why I love IWC Crystals. Their AR is just superb.

Going by your other platinum incoming thread, that updated dial/hands was released this year.

I can’t confirm on the AR crystal, but I can confirm on the updated seconds hand.

I found a 2020 photo with the blue seconds hand, I wonder if it was linked… I heard Daytonas have AR now as well but this was on Reddit so I’m unsure if it’s true or not… Rolex moves in mysterious ways…

I’m 99.9% sure my crystal has AR, I’ll try and get a shot of it. At the moment I have a Daytona and DJ which don’t have AR and an OP36 EXP 1 and Sub41 with AR, totally looks like this DD has AR

Possible dial swap on the 2020 example you saw.

Once they got rid of the anodized blue hands/roman numerals that’s when they introduced the blue seconds hand.

2020 subs and Daytona have under AR, I know because a person from the HQ told me at the opening of a new flagship boutique. Don’t remember if any other model had this feature though.

Ok then sorry but you are mistaken my friend:

See this thread. It confirms Daytona uses AR.

Can someone download me on the differences between AR and not? Are the tops of the DD40 crystals with AR from day one and now added to underside? Thanks.

It’s possible it was a staggered roll out and some models miss out?

In saying that wow, so it is true, Rolex did quietly just update other watches.

Okay just for everyone's record, I have a 2021 DD40 228206 and this categorically has underside AR. Sorry I tried to get a photo of the etch but i'm finding it impossible to do.

I found a picture showing the lazer etched crown in the crystal that shows if it as AR or not and this one has the 2nd circle in the crown unlike my daytona. Curiously, my Daytona is a very early 2019 model and doesn't have AR though the link above suggest it should have.

I have a 2021 DD40 (White Gold, Olive Green). I can confirm via the logo with a loupe that it has AR coating (top and bottom).

DD40 AR Crystal

It's hard to read. Jumble of dots. I'm going to attempt a picture. I could be wrong here, though their definitely is a circle.

Yeah was hard for me to see to all I could tell is definitely more in that circle vs my Daytona.
