Which BLNR? “New” or “Old”

Sorry to veer off topic on here but several of you guys comment about reported issues w the newer movements I had noticed. I do have a newer 41 Sub date and as far as accuracy is concerned it’s gaining 1/2 spd, & as for the amplitude yes it does run on the lower side but when it’s Timegraphed keep in mind the lift angle must be set at 53 not 52 which is the proper setting for the newer movements.

Here is another angle. Are you looking for a gmt watch for travel? If so you might want to consider the explorer 2. My husband has one in his collection and has used for travel. He really likes that watch. So fewer of them compared to the sub platform watches. He had a BLNR when they were first released and felt for him it was too similar to the sub and all the sub look a likes.

GS also makes wonderful gmt watches. But if you want a BLNR. Then that’s what you want.

Thanks; 53 degrees is known for 32xx caliber.
The difference between 52 and 53 is +6 degrees in amplitudes for the higher lift angle.

I had never wanted the BLNR when it was first produced and nothing had changed even with the introduction of the Jubilee Bracelet. I also did not like the Jubilee much and I liked the Oyster bracelet. Fast forward and I was fortunate enough to win the TRF Giveaway for the BLNR on Jubilee. I received the watch and really fell hard for it. The looks are great and there is something about the Jubilee bracelet that makes the watch for me. I think it is the comfort of wear, the difference in anything I own and the most important, it is shinny and goes so well with the watch. I liked it so much that I went out and bought the Pepsi on Jubilee. I still like the oyster bracelet and own a number of watches that utilize it but for the BLNR the Jubilee works best for me. Get the new model on Jubilee and wear it for a bit and then add a Oyster if you want. No real bad choice here. Good luck and go get your watch.

I have the 116710BLNR and if given a choice I would prefer the 126710BLNR on Oyster bracelet since it has longer power reserve and interchangeable Jubilee bracelet. It would be a nice option to have but I'm still happy with the old one.

In this one for me newer is better, so everything being equal (price, conditions if both used) would pick the newer version 126710. I prefer the look on Oyster but easy enough to swap bracelets so if buying new would pick whichever is offer by an AD .

Someone mentioned swapping bracelets should you get a BLNR oyster. I have an older Batman and tried swapping the jubilee from my BLRO on to the Batman; doesn't fit. Tried different spring bars etc. but no joy. The oyster fits the BLRO just fine but the newer jubilee does not fit on the older BLNR.

From another GMT thread, it sounds like the 116710 requires the Super Jubilee, from the previous generation DJ. Or maybe different end links would help the newer bracelet fit the older watch? Either way, only the bracelets from the 126710 models seem to be completely interchangeable without any modification.

FWIW, I was reading this thread and am thinking about picking up a GMT. So I called my local AD - Bellevue Washington USA and they said that if I have a 12 series GMT on an Oyster they would not be able to get me a jubilee bracelet. They have tried to purchase for other customers and Rolex refuses the order.

They did say they would be able to get a Oyster Bracelet if I wanted to purchase it.

(Your experience may vary...)

Newer because it’s newer and longer power reserve. Also, allegedly slightly less bulky lugs but I don’t believe that is confirmed.

I wanted Oyster, and ended up with a 116710. I don't see any reason why I'd have wanted to pay an additional dime for a similar condition/etc 126710. But again, I vastly prefer the Oyster bracelet.

126710. You want the 72 hour power reserve. You take it off on Friday and it's still running on Monday.

While I was on a list for the 12 series BLNR, as I researched (which is all you can do while waiting for a Rolex), I became concerned about the newer 32xx movement issues vis a vis the older, 31xx movement with a less noisy performance history. I told myself if i could find a "safe queen" NOS 11 series, I would buy it. Late last year I found one (stickers still on it) and while I paid a premium, I could not be happier.

I think it is the longer power reserve on the new movement that is causing the issues with the 32xx. Glad I don't have to worry about this. The 32xx was introduced in the GMT in 2018/19, so they are all just now coming off warranty. It will be interesting to see how Rolex handles this.

Definitely the 12, I have the 11 and there’s many times I wished I could swap around the bracelets when I feel like it
