Sold my 116519LN for a VC 5500V…

So the 116519LN grey dial has always been my grail watch since I got into watches 4 years ago. I played around with the market, starting with an Explorer 214270 and then bought a Hulk, then sold the Explorer for a modern Pepsi. And then I traded the Hulk and Pepsi (both watch only) for a full set Panda Daytona. At this point I was so close to my grail I just jumped straight into it.

But having worn the Panda for 6 months and then the 116519LN for another 2 months, I got bored of the Daytona. I wanted a watch that has a display case back and of high horology.

I stumbled across a good deal here in HK on this VC 5500V Overseas and traded my grail for it. Received decent amount of cash in the exchange so monetarily it is a downgrade but strangely it seems like an upgrade in terms of watch quality.

At first I had to get used to the bigger watch casing because the Daytona wears so much smaller than this Overseas. However I have gotten used to it now and I love it. The finishing of the indices is spectacular as it cuts in half and plays with the lighting. The chronograph movement feels as good as the Daytona and the movement in the display case back is mesmerising.

Congrats on getting the one you want. Don’t be surprised if you long for the Daytona again in the future. All roads lead back to rolex. Haha

I prefer the VC over the 116519LN as well. Congratulations

Thanks! Lol I can see that happening in the future. Hopefully the market doesn’t go insane like 100k for a Daytona in the future

Regardless of “market value”, you definitely went for the better watch! Congratulations!

That’s a nice Panda VC, I hadn’t seen that variant before. Good move.

I was also looking at Daytona and at the time the grey price on the black dial SS Daytona was the same as buying this in the boutique. That was in the end an easy choice, where the 3 strap system blows it out of the park compared to the Daytona.

Yes it's larger but the Daytona is so small that ladies wear it, I have a big mans wrist and this watch fits perfectly. I can understand that it does not sell so well here in Hong Kong since Asians have smaller wrists. The boutique when they saw it on my arm at delivery were like, thats what it should look like, finally a customer where the watch fits. I just love the watch and fun to see I got a HK friend with the same watch as me!

I don't know if it's a good or bad move, because I'm still waiting for my Daytona 116519LN. I know it's a small watch and my wrist is 19cm. Congratulations on your courage, and of course on the beautiful Vacheron.

Well played, in terms of horology you certainly upgraded. Congrats, VCO is a fantastic line, enjoy the versality of the strap options!

That fits you like a glove. And congrats to the OP - you’ve now got the much nicer watch IOM.

Congratulations! Great choice and so versatile.

I have ended up with 3 rubber straps, 2 leather and the bracelet for my dual time and apart from the rare occasions that a classic dress watch is called for, the Overseas is pretty much covers every base and never loses its appeal.

Enjoy!

VC quality is much better than Rolex regardless of what market prices might say. That said the only fly in the ointment to me is the colour of the date window.
Cheapens an otherwise beautiful watch imho

It is a significant increase in horology just not in perceived baller presence hence the pricing difference. Nice choice. Well done and congrats.

Always goes for whatever you love, congrats!

But for me, I would rather go for PM Daytona with full bracelet.

Nice photo, glad to see another person in Hong Kong with the same reference and enjoying the watch :) I recently like wearing the watch on the leather strap haha

Would agree on the blue reference, but since the sub dials are white/silver I think a white date window works perfectly fine.

I have had many watches. Unfortunately I am a serial flipper.
BUT. I can't seeing ever flipping my nee dual time. It could literally be a 1 watch collection with the easy strap change. Enjoy the chrono, I have had daytonas in the past. Vc is another level.

As an owner of both Daytonas and of VC OS watches, I can say that you made a great move.

Enjoy, it looks awesome on your wrist.
