Well, when I first answered this question, the Mrs and I owned two VW diesel cars. So, we probably didn't look Rolex "upscale". That said, we got a few new cars this weekend and although the pictures are not great, I will post them anyway. I think we now better fit the prescribed Rolex "image." Mine is the white GS and hers is the dark ES. Now, I just need a bigger house, three car garage and Lotto. Isn't life grand! (LOL)

I would say totally out of sync (not even to mention that I am a lot, lot older than that bus):
This is a photo of the actual bus number I take when I go downtown. I can walk to work in 10 minutes though. The areas that this bus goes through, you would not want to be waving your wrist around with the Rolex on it! It is literally the most impoverished area in Canada. Cheers , Carl

Been gone for awhile, decided recently to get back into watch collecting and admiration.
Had to get rid of the Toyota, had some unintended acceleration issues LOL This is currently in the drive...

Golf VR6 2.8. Set up for track use with fully adjustable coil overs all round, a bit uncomfortable, but great handling! During the week I have the pleasure of a 1.5 litre diesel Citroen.

Good question! The answer is this is Kalifornia and neighborhoods have declined so badly do to the economy. Many good folks have left the state and the rift raft have moved in. These people are too lazy to move the cans out of sight all week.

I was being somewhat sarcastic but I kind of expected that was the reason - sorry to hear it. There are people in very nice neighborhoods that do the same... they don't want their garbage to stink up their house so it's better to leave it for the neighbors to "enjoy". Some people have no respect or class no matter how much money they have. At least you get to block them from view with a Corvett!! Good luck, hopefully this will turn around soon(er) than later. Now I am totally off topic - sorry to everyone. -Pete

During my Seiko/Casio days (about 10 years ago), I was driving a majorly modified C4 Corvette with Greenwood body kit, chromed ZR-1 wheels, Alpine stereo, etc, etc. Saw some SCCA track time. I was also riding a Kawasaki ZX-7 with titanium Muzzy pipe. Then I got married.
During my Breitling days (about 2-8 years ago), I was driving a lifted Nissan Hardbody with 33s on it. During my Breitling/Oris days (up until 2 months ago), I was driving a slightly modified Sequoia with chromed 22s on it. Now that I have my two Rolexes, guess what I'm driving?... A 2007 Toyota Sienna. LOL!! I'm the total family man, married with two kids now. I still had to do the customary wheel and exhaust change, so at least it's sitting on 18s with 50 series tires on it. Although my cars have changed, I still have all of my watches. |

A balance?
Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know there had to be a match. Isn't this "that" which gives Rolex its unique place? Does it not stand out, alone, when surrounded by other, non-related things? Like the solitary star in the sky, it is only brighter surrounded by negative dark space. But, even a nice glass of wine consumed by peasant like me, can be appreciated without a tux in simple surroundings.

I have a 2005 MINI Cooper S with all the John Cooper Works upgrades to the engine, brakes, and suspension. It's like driving a hyped up angry go-kart! It sits on the carport under a cover. I have a 1995 B4C Camaro(6MT) asleep under a cover in my shop. It has 10K miles and has never seen rain.
I just got a leftover 2007 Honda Civic LX that I slog back and forth to work in. It gets 36-38 mpg with the 5 speed. My first "practical car"...and hopefully my last Rawhyde |
