For the Rap/Hip-Hop Fans

**Please, if you don't like rap, great...just skip the thread. Thank you.

I just got back from working the Eminem / Jay-Z shows in Detroit. They had some special guests, and the shows were amazing. 9-piece bands, and incredible graphics displays. Next week, they're playing two more shows at Yankee Stadium.

So, who holds the record for the most #1 records in history for a solo artist? He used to be tied with Elvis Presley, but now Jay-Z holds that record...11 #1 albums!

He happened to be wearing a DLC Richard Mille Tourbillon. (He's an AP ambassador, and the Richard Mille watches are produced by AP.)

Eminem has 9 #1 albums. He performed a few songs with 50 Cent:

Performing for the first time in nearly 10 years was Dr. Dre!
The crowd went crazy for Dre.

Next time, I'll bring a better camera.

Wow that must have been some concert. I would have killed to be there. When 50 and Dre. Are the afterthoughts to the main show you know that it had to be good.

It was amazing to see 45,000+ tuned in the whole time. Drake also performed, as did Young Jeezy, G-Unit & D12. In NY, the special guest list should be great as well.

x2

Eminem is one of the few performers that I'm a huge fan of that I've never gotten to see. Truth is, I haven't been to a rap concert since the days of Public Enemy and Kool Mo Dee. I should check Em out when he comes to Chitown again.

Oh, you didn't happen to catch Em's watch did you? I think he sports a SS DJ.

He has worn a SS DJ for years, but at the show was wearing the one below (pic from the web).

He's not big into toys, but he sure buys a lot of them for other people.

I'm going for the NY show, especially if Dre shows up again.

I was so close to purchasing tickets to the NY concert but I have already been to two floor seat concerts for Jay this year and 5 total in my life so I had to pass considering taking off work is a pain these days. I imagine this was probably the best concert ever!

Very cool! I had never seen Jay-Z live before, and was stunned at how good he was. The band is amazing!

Found some great clips on YT of him playing with John Mayer. They work really well together.

We're okay, I thought of you and SLS when passing through Sacto a couple weeks ago. Is the move to NYC permanent?

Thx for sharing/posting this Howard!

Looks like a lot of fun, to say the least, and it must have been great to get the chance to see The Doc perform after all these years. Even if I'm mostly in to "electronic music", I've listened to my fair share of Rap/Hip-Hop through the years. I've seen Beastie Boys perform a couple of times, but unfortunately never had the chance to see any of the guys mentioned in this thread (I have all records with both Jay-Z and Eminem, so I really would like to get the chance to see them perform one day).

Thx again.

Cheers,
Joe

I've not had the chance to see the Beastie Boys. That'd be great!

If you get a chance, I'd definitely recommend seeing these guys. Their presence is incredible, and they don't stop moving!

Have a great weekend.

I thought 50 and Jay-Z weren't getting along for a while - is all that over? ("I'm about a dollar, what the f**k is 50 cents?" - It's Hot by Jay Z)

50 does all that "beefing" bs to generate a buzz.... none of it's real.

The Yankee Stadium show was incredible. Eminem had 50 Cent & Dr. Dre again, as well as D12. Jay-Z pulled out the stops, performing with Kanye West, Drake, Chris Martin (Coldplay), & Beyonce...playing past 1am!
