Explorer 2 polar dial 226570

Does anyone know how long the lume lasts?

For example. If I wear it all day (in sunlight), and then entire a completely dark room, how long will it actually glow for?

I just bought one a few weeks ago. I wore it to bed for fun a few nights and I can read it in the middle of the night with no problem. Funny thing is it’s been dreary here with no sun and mostly under a sleeve, so no idea how the lume was even charged to allow it to glow at night. But it does. It’s awesome!

Last about 2 minutes in my experience lol

It’ll always glow enough to see though. I had a watch (can’t remember which maybe a tag) that was so bright it was irritating.

My personal experience is the lume lasts all night, provided the room remains dark and your eyes adjusted to it.

Do not expect it to be a bright torch, like a fully charged Panerai.

I can't say it's something that I have ever timed, but agree with others above that I have always been able to tell the time whenever I have checked during the night.

I can only speak for the 216570 Polar. Once my eyes are dark adapted the lume is easy to read all through the hours of darkness. I know this because it was my default travel watch and when I was away from home it stayed on my wrist 24/7.

Two added bonuses are that in low light levels (not darkness) the lumes cast a blue glow over the dial, and in in all lighting conditions it is the most legible watch I have ever owned. So stylish, so well built, so classy and so fit for purpose.

Mine is still visible the following morning in a blacked out bedroom.

When I wake up in the middle of the night my GMT always has some glow left on it.

I have found with the Rolexes I have had ranging from superluminova, chromalite and the updated chromalite that they last all night, ie at least 8 hours. For me, each version has also been an improvement.

However they are never really bright apart from when initially subjected to a bright light. I think that’s where the complaints re lume come from.

For me, longevity is far more important than the initial wow factor.

My perception (216570) is that it glows all night, but if any other light source creeps into the room, I can no longer see it. So it's a matter of how your eyes adjust, and how dark is the room. Total darkness, and it will appear to glow all night until another light source overtakes it.

I think my 216570 is superior to many watches in this regard, but tritium tubes still reign supreme.

Since we have a group of Exp2 owners in the same thread, how’s the fit treating you? Glidelock really helps with the 41 sub, without such precise micro adjustment, does the exp2 dangle and stay too loose or too tight at times? Being a bigger watch, I feel like that would bother me.

With normal daily wearing, my lume stays readable all night. It dims as hours pass, but is still readable.

The Explorer II clasp has plenty of adjustability. Once correctly sized, you won’t miss glidelock. Mine is sized correctly and is my most comfortable watch.
