Durability of Modern Automatic Sports Watches Not Rolex, Omega, or Seiko
For modern automatic sports watches in the sub-$2,000 category, I am wondering what will be their durability over many decades. The only watches I regularly see that are 50 years old or older are Seiko, Rolex, and Omega. So I trust that those brands' modern watches will be durable. (Tudor watches with in-house movements will have similar durability to Rolex?)
But what are the thoughts about the durability of newer sports watch brands trying to make a name for themselves, especially those in the $1,000-2,000 price range using ETA and Selita movements, such as Christopher Ward, Monta, and Deep Blue, to name a few? And what about some tribute watch brands such as Squale and Steinhart? Will those watches be durable enough to last multiple generations (assuming regular service, of course)? |

I would have thought a Sinn watch will stand the test of time and represents extremely good value for money?

Sinn, Fortis, Ball, Oris....most watches with either and ETA, Sellita or Miyota movement should be good to go.
No guarantees, but the movements are pretty solid and as long as you're not throwing them from high places onto hard things, they should last for years.

As long as a watchmaker knows how to service them and parts are available .. I would think any automatic should last forever ...

I would say Sinn is the first brand that comes to my mind. But an ETA (or Sellita) is a great robust serviceable movement no matter what brand’s case it’s sitting in.
