So I have now heard salespeople say omega as it is spelled and o-me-ga as in omeeega. Which is proper? Was looking at The orange bezel seamaster today. The manager told me It would be $3,195.00 out the door. That sound like a good deal to you guys?

It's pronounced like O-may-ga.

The price the AD quoted you seems resonable after the recent price increase. It you were looking to buy a month sooner you could have picked up one between $2700-$2800

I don't know if it is a british accent or the actual pronounciation, but I'd think that given the $$$ that Swatchgroup must have spent for that scene - they'd make sure the pronounciation was correct.

The correct Greek pronunciation would be Oh-May-Gah, but I've always pronounced it Oh-Mee-Gah. Maybe it's a British thing?

Ok price, retail is like 38 on a 45.4' but almost any AD will let them go at that 31 price.

Either pronunciation is fine. I saw an interview in which Stephen Urquhart seemed to be saying Ohm-ga. This crops up every so often. No right or wrong. Ancient Greek is a dead language like Latin and proper English...

for sure, it's been a few months since Ive been in an AD, didnt realize that prices went up that much...

What would make it a fantastic deal is if the Chrono PO was the 31 price.

So I called the AD today told him I wanted it on the black rubber band with the orange stitch But I also wanted to keep the s/s bracelet it was on. I said whats your best price for all of it. He comes back with $3,780. I said yesterday you said you could sell the watch at 20% off. The tag says $3,950. You said the band cost $253. That math doesnt add up.So He dropped it to 15% and said that was the best he can do. Gonna hafta think about this for a bit first. And I am gonna say o may ga.....But I did here omeega at the Ad that I got my breitling from.

Funy enough, went I went to the Vintage Omega store in Burlington arcade, there salesman, Clive, pronounced it Oh-mee-Gah.

BTW: This was in England.

My Welsh ex always pronounced it "Oh-Meeg-a" as well. I'll take the Brits' side on this one...

Which one? If your referring to the 2500 movement in the 'standard PO', I can agree with you. My movement was repaired under warranty along with other quality control issues. But in the end, the PO is such a nice watch I am still glad I bought it.

I misread the OP's intent...I was referring to the chronograph version. From personal experience and from those I've talked to who own Omegas with 2500 calibers, they tend to run fairly well. More in line with other high quality Swiss movements. Sorry to hear that this has not been your experience.

From my experience, I would agree as well. The 2500 'C' variants are very reliable pieces of kit, we get very few problems. The cal. 3313, however, is a little more problematic - we have had a number come back for guarantee repairs

There is a thread somewhere about this. It has to do with greek alphabet upper and lower case. The symbol for the Omega brand is pronounced Omeega. The other omega symbol (upper or lower I don't remember) is omega. different meaning and pronunciation.

Just listen to TV ads/news or radio pronouncing ω-3 Fatty acid. Its pronounced as Oh-meh-ga. So you are right as I have never heard ω-3 pronounced as O-mee-ga. Which means Omega (the brand) should rightly be pronounced as O-mee-ga then
