Review of Rolex Submariner 16610
How could you possibly write a “review” of the most iconic watch in the world, the Rolex Submariner? There must be hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of reviews of this watch already. Wouldn’t it be like beating a dead horse?
Probably. But let’s write one anyway. LINK TO THE REVIEW It's just a quick, simple writeup with some of my photography. Enjoy... and let me know if you find any mistakes.

JP did an excellent review. The comparative review also shows the revisions since the 1680 reference right up to the 16610, with all the right retained features to include the caliber, case and balanced wrist presence. The 3130/3135 caliber series have the Breguet overcoil and full balanced bridge. All combine to give just the right features, including drilled lugs for most of the model's years. Even the 14060 closely resembles the 5513 Submariner, with the added feature of a more modern 3130 caliber-
all of the best --for "the last of the best". |

Thanks much everyone. Appreciate the comments.
I borrowed my friends Yacht-Master Rolesium, took some shots of it. I hope I can construct a similar one of that.

I love mine. I rotate it with my 36mm SS Datejust. Two classic, simple watches.

DJ and Submariner are the two most popular models of Rolex ever. And the most iconic, too.

I have a nice watch collection, but the 16610 is pretty much my daily. However mine is tritium, and I prefer It over the luminova which is no doubt more useful at night, but I have enjoyed seeing the tritium slightly fade over time, I like the 16610 because it is the last 5 digit sub, kind of the end of an era.

I can't agree more, it is The most iconic watch in the word. Nice review JP, beautiful photos...
I had a story with the sub that goes back to year 2000. I was at Charles Du Gaulle airport buying a Cartier that I had fallen in love with its design and the AD there had that model along Rolex watches. He put the Cartier on the tray and asked me to go with him to a different stand that belong to their company to show me a different watch that falls in the same price category. It was a Rolex Submariner. I had no idea back then about the history of Rolex vs Cartier nor how better Rolex was. All I wanted was that Cartier for how it looked "Chronora, white dial, a crown with a blue stone... Price tags were similar and the salesman tried hard to convince me to take the Rolex but I didn't. Today, I look back and think how stupid I was:-) Any idea which reference the sub was back in 2000? How to look for one now? Quote:

That Sub would have been the exact same model as mine, the 16610. Probably with T<25 tritium dial and hollow end links. Otherwise it was identical to mine. Cheers.

Full sets are expensive but I wouldn't pay all that extra for it. I rarely wear the papers on my wrist haha.
I'm only aware of the European prices and from Chrono24 you get pretty good picture. I have only one recommendation: Buy now before the prices get out of hand (as they did with the 4-digit models). It will be more expensive tomorrow. https://www.chrono24.com/rolex/ref-16610.htm#gref

Full set are expensive but I don’t dare to buy unless 1000% sure it is legit. With today’s countless fake watch stories I really prefer to pay premium and get peace of mind. It’s becoming scary out there.

Sure, there are scammers even in Chrono24 but they're rare. Papers are grossly overrated (or overpriced), imho.

Nothing better than the 16610 (to me). Hehe. Fresh wrist shot.

Thanks for the great review. The 16610 has been my dream watch for years. This will be the year I finally get one!
