Can I offer the AD’s salesperson a cash “Tip” on the side for helping me get my watch

what if I offered the sales lady a cash “Tip” of $5k on the side for “Expediting” this process for me. I have no problem with discretely making this offer to her. And that $5k is of course negotiable depending on her needs.

I am looking to purchase a new panda from an AD. I have zero Rolex AD purchase history and refuse to buy products I don’t want or need just to make myself eligible for a Panda.

You “refuse to buy products” you don’t want or need but you’ll blow 5K in hopes of greasing the wheels? Ok.

I think it would be better to just buy the watch that you want from a reputable gray market dealer.

Sure. Maybe also make an appointment with law enforcement while you're at it.

A tip is for services rendered, no? What services has she provided? So this is not a tip, but a bribe. Now 5K might be a lot of money to her but I don’t think she would risk it. You should ask her manager if that would be ok.

Besides the fact that it's unethical at minimum, your SA doesn't have the final say on allocating a Panda. There's one or more persons above her that need to sign off on the allocation. They're going to look at your file and so forth. Obviously, your 5k 'Tip' is not going to show up, but your zero purchase history will.

This kind of tip is referred to as bribe in many countries.

A $75,000 tip in the form of unwanted jewelry and watches is just the ticket!

People do it every day by purchasing $10,000 jewelry for $15k to move up the list. Offering a sales associate $5000 is different. You are asking her to lie to her employer, break the rules of her employment, presumably commit tax fraud and just generally behave like a scumbag. I hope she tosses you out on your ear.

I also think you are a bit on the cheap side.

Good luck with that. I have given gift cards after the fact but never "bribed" anyone before being offered a piece.

5k is too cheap. Try 10k or 15k.

You miss every shot you don’t take.

I doubt she will take it and compromise her job. The allocation process is typically stringent anyway and doesn’t work with this tactic

Of course you can offer and give the sales associate or manager $5000 as a tip/bribe. It's not illegal, but it reaks of desperation

ADs that sell Rolex also sell Tudo... and Tudor makes great models for $5000 or less. You're better off buying another watch for $5000 to build up customer relations, adding to your watch collection, giving you something you can enjoy, while saving your dignity

Or... just be patient and wait it out... or buy grey
