I have an inexplicable desire to buy a 5517 Ti grey dial on bracelet. Objectively analyzing each component it feels haphazard and meh but for some reason I want one lol

What a sickness this hobby can be. I almost want it because it’s so awkwardly thrown together.

The entire 5517 line is scarily growing on me more and more. When introduced I thought meh a downgrade from the 5817 (which Im of course obsessed with and still like more) but as time goes on I like all versions of the 5517 line and its distracting me and my focus on adding a tradition next. As you said were all sick

Almost lost focus on my adding a Tradition next had a blue version 5817 in my cart. This one should hold me over for awhile I think.

Congrats! These are incredible watches and still great value in my opinion. Can’t go wrong with a Marine, I still love my black dial 4 years on and just pops far more than my Sub.

Here is my original 20 Aviator, bought in France several years ago from the family of a military aviator. I believe they were given the watches and just assessed taxes!

LOVE it! May try to add something similar someday I really like the new type XX models as well but none can top the character and history of an original one like that.

I can't decide which version I like the best but will eventually have a Tradition they are just amazing watches in so many ways.

Does the 5517 have hacking seconds? That lack of this feature is one of the few things that bothers me about my 5817

It used to bug me a little too but now I kinda like and appreciate the fact that the timekeeping is way secondary on these watches it’s all about the art of the dial and movement side. Its kind of refreshing to wind and just glance at a clock and set it in the ballpark as opposed to my other watches where i for some reason feel the need to set to the second.

None of my 4 5817s are particularly accurate my GOs and Omegas all blow them out of the water but it just doesn’t bug me at all like I thought it would.

Remembered this post about Breguet’s accuracy. Mine is running late. It was recently serviced and revised. Should I take it to another watchmaker to try to make it more accurate? Or the result will be the same?

Guess it depends on how much it bothers you - how slow is it? As I mentioned none of my 5817s are super accurate think the worst one last I checked was like 10 seconds slow but it never bothered me. My 5547 is crazy accurate even with drained power I picked it up after sitting for 2 days and it was within a second. My tradition doesn't have seconds hand but it seems spot on accurate too I kept it wound for probably the first month I owned it and it was spot on where it should be. So they can hone in the accuracy I just think with the non-hacking of the 5817 that wasn't the purpose of that watch.

That said it could just need a quick tweak if it's been serviced recently but I'd wait a bit and see if it bothers you or not over time.

Had a little scare with this one this week couldn't find it anywhere. Found it in my duffle bag from a weekend trip a few weeks back thank god. Good reminder for me to pay attention more. I have them covered but guessing the process for a lost watch claim is not a fun one.

I love my breguet 5920. I'm thinking of buying a 3460 or a 7027 as well.
