Finished? That's cute. BTW the panda is one of the prettiest Rolex ever, but for wearing, the gold models are crazy cool. I'm selling mine to get a gold one.

I only have Lange in gold. In sports watches I prefer steel.

It is even more satisfying than on the day of purchase. I got used to all her faults; small size and quite poor time reading. I now consider the small size of the case to be an advantage of this Daytona, as well as its almost hopeless readability. With this watch on my wrist, I no longer control time.

I acquired my Daytona by listening to and reading countless entries and statements about its awesomeness, about its historical importance for the brand, about who wore it and where. I purchased my copy on the 60th anniversary of the first Daytona 6239 with a hand-wound Valjoux 72B movement inside. Until the end of the 1980s, sponsorship in moto sport or famous people wearing Daytona were of no use, this model sold rather poorly due to the type of tension. The real breakthrough came in 1988, when Rolex used the El Primero automatic movement, heavily modified by Zenith, marked as caliber 4030. It can be said that with the new automatic - foreign movement, golden times began for the Daytona model. Customers learned about new trading methods for registration and waiting lists. Yes - Zenith, in a sense, saved Daytona from oblivion. Mine already has its own, durable and ultra-precise 4130 mechanism, constructed entirely by Rolex, with a ceramic bezel, and its successor was introduced last year - cal.4131. On the other hand, the Daytona is the least functional watch of all the Rolex models I own or have owned. If I were to sell any watch for some reason, she would be my first choice. Why? Because functionally, I don't like Sub or Pepsi, I'm not emotionally attached to it - we don't have any interesting story about purchasing it. Because it is a great addition to the collection - the cherry on the cake, but more of a whim than a practical EDC. It's here and now - great! She won't be there tomorrow, and she won't be there, no worries. I have other, more interesting and more useful watches in my opinion...

great shot. And indeed an awesome watch. My eight year old only likes colourful watches. She has never told me that she really liked any black or white watches whenever I asked her. But this, she said she likes as much as the pepsi (which I was really surprised to hear). And she is right, there is indeed something about it on the wrist. |

The strip for Daytona has already been taken away. There will be dressing up on the weekend.

This is the watch that would complete my collection as well. But after a few years on the BS "list" for one, and the rising grey market prices, I may be thinking of a different direction.
If my AD calls and says he has one for me, of course I'll buy it in a heartbeat. If nothing comes by the end of the year, I may go with an AP chrono instead. Much more expensive, but when you compare to the grey market prices of the Panda now creeping well above $30k, I don't think it is worth it. |

New one, old one, small, large, discontinued, current model, stupid nickname, etc, once you have a SS Daytona, none of it matters. Those who own one know what I mean. Congratulations to a new owner!

Congrats! I recently acquired mine too and I’m enjoying it.. my only regret is not getting it sooner! (Unfortunately my phone does not allow me to upload a clearer pic with better resolution)
