How many 126500LN owners are buying a white dial Speedy?

Just curious what white dial Daytona owners think of the new Speedmaster. I imagine if you love the Daytona, you must think fondly of the new Omega.

Would you find it redundant or see it as another way to add to a genre that you clearly appreciate as 126500LN owners?

Clearly there are differences that could be a turn off..

Manual Wind
Low water resistance w/o screw down crowns
Aluminum Bezel
Open caseback

But there are a lot of boxes both check..

Great History and Iconic
White Dials
Brand cachet

Sooooo...

What do you 126500LM owners think of the new Omega comparatively and do you plan on buying one? Why or why not? Genuinely curious.

The biggest turn off are the lyre lugs (I refuse to believe anybody who will tell me they look good from the profile) and the hands.

Straight lugs + lollipop hands, then we would be talking. I don’t know why Omega hates beauty that much.

For years, I hated the lyre lugs and didn't buy a Speedmaster because of them. When they released the FOIS variant with straight lugs, I grabbed one. I then sold it a year later because it felt a bit naff.

However, a few months ago I took a flyer on a 1990 3590.50 Speedmaster, simply because it had a long S and R in the font and I thought it was cool. Now, I really do like the lyres. No joke. Especially compared to the straight ones.

Maybe one day I’ll change opinion. I used to love the speedy, then I saw a 2998 and since then, I am just sad Omega doesn’t release something similar.

+1 - at some point I'll get a white dial speedy.

Only recently got the ed white 321. Also own a few other speedys and have some other watches I want to get first.

It is a fantastic release by Omega.

It's a nice watch but the biggest issue for me is that it's 42MM. I prefer the size of my Daytonas

Just to note, the lug to lug which is perhaps a more important measurement of on wrist feel between the speedy and the Daytona is actually the same or very similar with a 0.5mm variance.

The 42mm across the case is only larger because of the crown guards added to the "professional" model to make it space flight certified.

The dial is actually the same diameter for CK2998 (39.4mm which would be a closer match to a Daytona on paper) speedies and the moonwatch professional 42mm versions.

It wears small - a similar size to the Daytona.

Looks bigger to me - which is a good thing since to my eyes the Daytona is too small. The Daytona's fatter bezel and smaller dial make it look smaller than it is. The opposite for the Speedy.

Look at post #37 and you'll see that's not the case.

In this photo the Speedmaster is sitting off his hand, closer to the camera, magnifying the size.

The Daytona looks like a 39 and the Speedy a 41 to me

I honestly don’t like the white dial Speedy. I know the standard black dial wears much smaller than its 42mm, but the white dial makes it look all of that 42. At least in pictures it does. Too big for my tastes.

That would be one big disadvantage to the white dial on a 42mm.

I’ve seen the white dial speedy in person; it looks SMALLER than the black dial. Most watch pictures make a watch look waaaay bigger. I think it wears SMALLER than even a 40mm.

I don’t own a Daytona nor do I want one.

IMO, the Speedmaster ( black or white) is one of the most UNIQUE looking chronographs on the market. ( more of a dome on the crystal, no big prominent sub dials, very legible clean lines ) The Daytona, to me, just looks like any chronograph from any brand.

The aesthetics are completely different on the two watches.

x2

My initial reaction when trying it on in the NYC OB. Wears like a 39mm imo. It has grown on me greatly since trying it on. Need to give it another go.

Yes! I was floored when I saw it in person at the NYC OB as well. Great looking and much smaller than I was expecting.

Interesting..

Most people assume the opposite. People swear the white dial 226570 ExpII wears larger than it's black dial twin.

YUP. I saw them both side by side and was expecting the white to look larger
( which is what almost always happens when comparing white/black versions of the same model/watch) ….but NO. White dial looks smaller and I actually posted about it in the Omega forums section. One other member responded to me that the black bezel operates as a “ separator” so to speak, making the white dial look smaller. Whereas with the black, the color black appears to go all the way to the edge, if that makes sense.

All I know is what I saw.

The white appears smaller than the black

A good friend of mine just bought his, he’s a massive Omega fan and says it’s lovely, would have it over the Daytona ..

Mine, but I will get the Speedy down the line … fwiw, I took the 116 over the 126 having checked them both out …
