Just by looking at it, it will be hard to make out the difference ...
Now a days, even trained eyes can't tell the difference between genuine and replica watches unless at close examination!

I'm sure you might have a better idea if you look at these kind of things more often than most, however its pretty hard to eyeball it in my opinion.

I do know that with a Patek its easier. They dont make stainless steel watches, so its either White Gold or Platinum. However most lay people won't know that either.

Someone should just post pictures of all 3 side by side.
Don't label them, and see if anyone on here can tell the difference.

I'm often asked, if my GMT 116710 LN is white gold and SS. That's what I like about the PCL's in the bracelet. It gives you the illusion of white gold. The average person can't tell the difference.

I had a SS daytona and then bought a WG daytona and there is a significant difference between the color of the two. But I love the weight of the WG Daytona - too bad they don't make a platinum one.

WG has a yellowish tint

SS and platinum look identical however platinum is incredibly heavy.

The average thief is not going to tell the difference before the rheft or robbery. If he thinks it is a real Rolex, he will try to steal it and worry about the metal later.

I don't think you have anything to be worried about. To a layperson it all looks the same except for gold and diamonds and that's if they even notice/care if you wear a watch. Potential thieves will steal it because it's a Rolex, probably not so much the metal involved.

Nope. They all look like stainless, to me. I could probably tell a little bit if they were side by side, though.

well datejust seem to be restricted to certain bezels while the platinum and white gold have real exotic bezels. And also on the daytona the tachy meter/units per hour are marked different and the SS models are restricted to the white or black bezel and the white gold versions have panda dials, and in the case of the black dial the hour markers are red.

I find a certain pretentiousness to the average WG wearer.. They are very quick to insult everything about YG... a very tasteless move on the part of those who feel they are so classy...

NOOO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE, most people do not even know what a rolex looks like. if you want people to be able to know what the watch is made of you would have to take it off and have them feel how heavy it is.....

light weight SS
medium/heavy- gold
EXTREMELY HEAVY - platinum
