Rolex Italia Card
BTW guys, as stated in my original post, this card from Rolex Italy came with my Rolex from seller MROElectric as well as the Italian instruction book. Can anyone tell me what it's about? RSC in LA said they didn't know but for sure a card like that would NOT come from any Rolex AD in the U.S. or Canada...Please see the attached.

Yes I did confirm that it was originally sold by a Canadian AD. However, my question was to whomever may know anything about the type of card pictured above?

Thank you for your input. I had an idea somewhat that that was it. I appreciate it.

Seems to me fault here is 50/50?

I take fault for not doing my homework, not quite sure that makes it 50/50 though. Notice the seller hasn't answered the question posed about regarding if he was the actual purchaser from the AD?

Hey Lgear080,
Just saw your ridiculous insensitive comment a few minutes ago in the "Watchout" section and now you're attacking me. Why don't you keep you poor comments to yourself. Would someone care if they bought an expensive car from a seller who abused it previously or from someone reputable who cared for it? One of the dumbest I've seen yet...

Any reputable seller would accept the watch back if buyer is unhappy. regardless of reason may it be buyers remorse, a small scratch that he cant live with, or just plain changed his mind. Its just part of the business side of things.
Now seller should also have time to inspect the watch and make sure it was returned in the same condition.

I completely agree. I offered to ship it back the next morning after I got it, fully insured. And I'd love for him to answer the very poignant question put forth in post #88.

I'm confused about this "over-polishing" claimed by Rolex. I would like to see a photo of that since the photos posted does not depict anything being over-polished.
As far as the Italian booklet, they do speak French in Canada so having a booklet in French, and not knowing the written French language from Italian is plausible to me. (I'm assuming that Rolex booklets are available in French in Canada.) Lastly, this so-called damage claimed by the service center seems strange. How can they determine the watch was dropped if there is no evidence on the outside of the watch indicating this? Since the watch was apparently running properly according to Rolex, why is it being repaired? I saw nothing in any of the posts indicating the case was damaged. I believe a small ding on the inner bracelet was mentioned, but the watch is pre-owned - correct? My experience with the RSC in Dallas has never been a "friendly" experience. They always find something wrong with my watches - basically anything they can to separate you from your wallet. Every watch I've ever had there needs a service - according to them. I would not be surprised if that tiny gap claimed to be from over-polishing was done at the factory, unless I saw a photo that indicated otherwise. Without taking an sides, I see a watch sold with an Italian booklet which to me really doesn't mean much. The watch was purchased at an authorized dealer which the seller named to the buyer. Having a warranty card that is slightly damaged is no deal breaker either since it is a pre-owned watch and having a warranty card is better than buying a watch without one. As far as the seller's credibility goes, there is too much finger-pointing from both the seller and the buyer to really judge what is going on here. Next time, ask more questions and get photos of everything that is being purchased. And never buy a watch from anyone without the seller's address and contact info. If I sell or buy a watch from someone here on TRF with minimal posts, I require a copy of their driver's license and employment info.

Appreciate your points; however, RSC in Beverly Hills is not in the business of hustling people. Too much money involved and the customers know their watches. And perhaps most importantly, they are fixing the watch AT NO COST TO ME. Why the hell would they take in a watch and agree to fix it if there was nothing wrong with it, especially since in this case, they're paying to fix it!

It's a long story (indeed 4 pages of it!) The watch was confirmed by the RSC to be keeping time outside of their acceptable specs (slow). Certainly shouldn't be the case with a watch that is newer. Diagnosed as slight damage to the movement. It's there for 2weeks (probably more if they are just trying to be optimistic). I suppose there is always a remote possibility that the watch came like that from the factory, but with their quality control, I doubt it. While I agree with you that one specific item in and of itself shouldn't be a deal breaker, there are just too many red flags here to ignore...

More specifically to your post, the seller claimed he himself bought the watch new from the AD in Canada while on business. When I called and talked to them, they had never heard of him and told me the watch was originally purchased from a REGULAR customer of theirs (seller told me this was the only Rolex he had EVER purchased outside the U.S.).

Listen John, I'm obviously not going to convince you my problems are real and that's fine. I've explained the issues as best I could. Again, Rolex is a business and a highly profitable one at that. It would make zero sense for them to spend their own time and money to take in a watch (on their own dime) to make it right, warranty or not. BTW, people out here can be highly pretentious etc. and if the RSC in Beverly Hills had a bad rep (they don't) people would just take their Rolex watches elsewhere and they'd lose profit. Trust me.

When you receive your watch back from the RSC why not post a copy of the work that was done? That should settle any questions others may have.
As a side note, I'll be at the Beverly Hills get together along with a few others on Sat, 1 Feb. Why not join us for lunch? 11:30 at The Honor Bar. Here's the information: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=332374 Hope you get your watch back in great condition. |

I agree with Kobayashi above. To avoid these huge headaches, stick to the veteran sellers that have a long, positive history with positive feedback. There are many on this forum that are honest sellers with hundreds of satisfied customers. Just my 2 cents...
