Old Man of the Sea
Padi,
I thought you might find this photo of a coelacanth interesting. We went on a fishing trip a couple of months ago , about 280kms South of Dar Es Salaam, when the local fishermen brought it into the lodge BTW:Fishing was excellent 18 Yellowfin (25-70kgs); 24 Dorado (15-30kgs) and couple of Wahoo and countless King Mackerell. |

All coelacanths caught in Tanzania must be sent to the Dept of Fisheries in Dar Es Sallam. University's from all around the world would give their left bollock to have a specimen. (The coelacanth was believed to have been extinct since the end of the Cretaceous period and only discovered in the late thirties before that there were only a few fossils of them in museums) Charlie |

Dar Es Salaam is that Tanzania, that coelacanth is the nearest thing to a dinosaur left on this world.Never seen one in the flesh, and that was a remarkable catch, but would have been better left in the sea.Have caught a few yellow fin myself very strong powerful fish. Was doing a bit of diving around Malindi Kenya,we had a days fishing caught Dorado think the locals
called them Fuelussi or something like that and boy they can go and jump.
