What a tank. I had a Deepsea for a few years and sold it as it was to cumbersome and insanely thick. I cannot imagine this thing. It’s still pretty with the bezel the DSSD and dial. But no way I can pull this off.

Ok, I've been walking around with this one pound dive weight in my hand. I'm pretty sure I don't want a watch that weighs this much...

Ben Clymer posted a link to his instagram story of him wrist-rolling it yesterday. I must admit, as someone who has been inching closer & closer to pulling the trigger on the 126618LB full gold Sub, this piqued my curiosity. After seeing the below video, I am not impressed and will still with a grey LB Sub.

Even my TT SD43 is quite heavy on me after a while, so can't imagine how heavy that would feel at almost double the weight.

A novelty at best. At worst, a waste of time, both literally and figuratively.

Best part of this was watching Wei Coked Up loose his mind. Did Roolie a solid there. Rolex probably having good humor here with this one.

Bit more tasteless every year to my eyes....
Memo to Rolex: The big watch craze of 2002 to 2018 reversed in 2019 (apart from some 'new money' emerging mkts, who are expected to be 8-10 yrs behind curve), please get with the programme.
Looks like something you'd get from those old $ grabber machines at the end of the pier to me....not as bad as a YM2 or Rainbow Rolex though, mind!

Well, i could easily see it for Footballers, Olympic Shot Put throwers, Samoans... and certain gang-/rap-stars. As 'bad' as we normal wrist guys have it, one of my friends is almost Shaq large. My 44mm timepiece on him looks like a 28mm(!) would on most normal wrists.

Except those are almost all too thick! Why can’t they make more 12-13mm thick pieces like the old Rolex did?

As a mate of mine said yesterday, “Good to see Rolex catering for drug lords, despots and dictators this year”.

The only thing worse than that watch is the Polaroid used to take the photo.

True weight is nearly 3/4 of a pound. That is ridiculous. My SA made a joke yesterday about if you wore it to dive, you’d sink to the ocean floor and be dead, but your new solid gold Deep Sea Dweller would still be running strong.

I think this Solid gold model is really practical. I can store it next to my gold boat anchor.

I like it but the DSSD is too big for me. Rolex makes a lot of gold watches, and the prices are fairly good against the competition.

It sounds like the kind of watch that could turn into a paper weight, literally. I can see a fan of the model buying it, and getting tired of the heaviness on his wrist, pretty quickly. He would end up setting it down, and never wearing it again. The price, while fair, is a lot of money to spend on something you will likely not be comfortable wearing.
