Love the DSSD line… well I guess they took the SD out of it so the DS line…?

Removes any need for dive weights. That’s a lot of gold

Well, if you were to get mugged for your watch I suppose you could always beat them to death with it...

apparently it has a titanium case back. I am sure that helps alot with weight!

It is 322g, 17.7mm thick

I am thinking perhaps this is a defensive weapon for super soldiers ?

Is it safe to wear my new gold DSSD into the cartel regions of Mexico? I will stay vigilant.

You don't have to go into the cartel regions of Mexico, they have all moved north into the USA.

I love the Deepsea but I'll take the SS model every time over that one. Doesn't look bad but it's just not for me.

Any diver build to last should be made from an inert steel like gold.
It’s simply the best material in the marine environment.

And those lovely shiny PCL's will attract all the nice friendly fishes down there too.

I know I’m in the minority… but I kinda dig it.

I have 8.25” wrist, 6’3”, big frame. I’d rock it.

Problem is, at $50k+, there are other watches I’d rather rock at that price.

It’s an obvious “flex piece” for the resort pool bar. Too heavy for it’s own good and laughable as even a vacation dive watch. Can’t see it being that popular?

At least you get to spot some Barracuda for an interesting dive

I like it. A highly contrarian opinion here I guess.
When the 1680/8 came out, it was considered a huge gold watch also. fwiw

I love the DSSD, but not a fan of the YG/Blue combo here. Honestly does look cheap in the photos I have seen, maybe different in real life but I'm not a buyer at that price anyway

However, it will sell. the YMII was nearly universally hated on here, but I have seen a ton of them in the wild, lots TT and PM. All those people who were buying big bright loud PM YMIIs will be drawn straight to the PM DSSD now

Oh I agree it will definitely sell - it says "Rolex" on the dial after all(!) - but I can't see many buyers having it on their wrists much.

The added weight of the gold will make it even more top heavy, and a lot of people these days seem to like their watches flapping around their wrists instead of being properly sized, so a watch of this size and weight will be an uncomfortable and impractical lump in no time. Plus the combination of the 18mm thickness and the relatively soft gold will also make it an absolute magnet for dings whenever the owner walks within 10 feet of a door frame.

Upon seeing this, I went to the Rolex website. I see the Deepsea is now it's own model instead of a version in the Sea-Dweller line. Accordingly, this dial no longer says Sea-Dweller on it.
