If folks on here ran Rolex...
Some of you guys would turn this into a high end Invicta in a matter of weeks.
Every year, the same hate and discontent, but every year Rolex gets bigger and bigger. I would say they know what they are doing. |

The discontent lies within I'm afraid.

honestly would try to make something very special like a totally hand made movement and dial with the sky dweller as a base ( as it is the most complicated movement made by rolex)

Additionally the major shift, from a brand known for rugged, hard use tool watches... to purely luxury, overpriced, mass produced watches that are impossible to get. Also Rolex literally just released possibly the most Invicta type homage we've ever seen in the 44MM all gold Deep Sea. They did that all on their own without anyone from TRF running the show |

Projects like that may very well be how Rolex built their reputation for being hard use watches. But yeah, it's awful looking haha. |

I must agree with you but it is still fun to speculate and give our opinions on what they should have done.

As for me I am a collector. I want one of every purpose built watch they make. I also want a white dial to complement a black dial, I want as many variations as I can afford. Just because..... I told my AD I wanted a set of OP's in each color when they came out with so many at once...that didn't happen but my AD said later that would have been a cool collection of OP's. But then again I am a collector....oh and I wear every one I have. And don't sell or trade, I collect...If I ran Rolex about the only thing I would change is to push the value of collecting each variation and purpose built watch, over a life time.

Everyone would make 2 watches:
1 for themself 1 for a lucky chosen one then start countless threads about: -over hype for that model -under hype for that model -should they buy it -have they ever seen it in the wild -next on my AD list -Trusted sellers on here can get it anytime they want at list or better -my AD had no idea that this model was made at 903pm Geneva Time, "fools" -can I wear my new "insert model here" while watching the masters Sorry, had to add a bit of sarcasm to my day. :)

The short answer is we would all do 100% better than the family that has run and grown Rolex for a century! Obviously
Like many, I am disappointed with a lot of the Rolex decisions over the past decade+ but we have no idea of the inner workings and whatever they keep doing to grow the company hasn't stopped the obvious demand. That being said, I am a firm believer that anyone who wants to get into the watch market today is likely to get frustrated "begging" to be "allowed" to spend $10,000.00 for a watch is at risk to going to other brands that they can walk in, try on, and buy! I know of at least three people that wanted Rolex and own Breitling or Omega because they couldn't get a Rolex. If I couldn't walk in and buy a Sub 20 years ago, maybe I'd be on the Omega forum today :) I'd be a lot wealthier lol

No hate or discontent, more like disappointment. The inability to get many models adds to the tenor of the conversation as already said above.

I love Rolex but I'm not a one brand collector. Every year someone launches something interesting and/or desirable, or something that's just nice to admire. I don't take it as a personal insult if a brand I like has a relatively quiet or uninspiring (to me) year.

Everyone can get every timepiece in whatever colorway you want. Any metal type, or mix and match! You can also choose any / all bracelet types and rubber options INCLUDING custom color schemes (and boring standard colors too). Also choose movements....
And of course if you love Rainbows and bling, our experts will help design your dream. Plus typical off-the-shelf designs too. Anything goes! . . . . There, is everyone happy now? :) PS: Occasional BOGO sales on rubber straps.

I would
1) Close the majority of independent AD doors (especially those who cannot or will not comply with build out standards. Focus on relationships with mult-chain AD with centralized purchasing and distribution of watches to customers. 2) Focus on production and development of TT and PM references to increase average purchase price and improve factory margins. 3) Do not overproduce SS references in order to meet demand. 4) Discontinue the Yachtmaster II as it is hideous 5) Keep price increases small and rotate them in different markets according to currency market fluctuations. Wait....that's what Rolex is already doing....so I don't need to do anything. :) |

As much as I’m not really a fan of the “new”, preferring instead the older 4 and 5 digit references, Rolex seems to me to be following an organic process of evolution. Can’t knock it, really. Can’t blame them either. That’s just how things go when you keep climbing the ladder of success.

I would get whatever watch I wanted, when I wanted it, for free!
Then I would make a line of ankle bracelet watches so I could wear as many as I want! The heck with the rest of you, go get your own company! Then I would move over and run Tudor! |
