Date change at midnight (ish)

You have to allign the minutes hand as close as you can to between the 2 minutes. I presume the date changes using the minute hand and not the seconds hand. So its a case of watching the minutes hand strike midnight. The seconds hand is to how close you set it. Any comments.
Just bought a submariner after selling one 20 years ago due to lack of funds. Ive finally got another although its 20 years newer
